They just looked tired. I agree. It's something that needs to be addressed. If we are only winning because the team is being ran into the ground we will be toasted by February. They had nothing left to give on the closing of the quarter. The absolute worst Cavs coach I’ve seen with rotations and not knowing when to give a guy a rest to have him ready for the fourth.
Bench:
Deron Williams
Kyle Korver
Richard Jefferson
Mike Dunleavy
Channing Frye
Iman Shumpert
I'd argue that they coasted for three quarters and didn't give real effort on the defensive end until the 4th quarter (especially Mobley and Mitchell). The Cavs are good, but they don't have enough shooting to spot other teams big leads like that and then just turn the dial up in the 4th.They had nothing left to give on the closing of the quarter. Yeah he is proving he can only beat teams when his starters play 40 minutes. I can go out there and win by just telling your 5 best players to win the game. He has to learn to use everyone piece on the board you have. As you say next month they'll be cooked forget by playoffs. They already look tired. He coaches every game like a playoff elimination game. A coach should be experimenting like a scientist through out the regular season. Put in brobley see if he plays will with starters. If he's that bad he can't get a single minute against the worst team in the league why even have him? They just looked tired. I agree. It's something that needs to be addressed. I forgot about that Dunleavy trade.Dunleavy was included in the trade for Korver and neither Williams nor Shumpert could shoot, but your overall point stands...that Cavs team was a murderers' row of flamethrowers. We went all in on shooting at the expense of defense, which lead to a lot of regular season frustration and consternation, but there's no doubt that Cavs squad would have wiped the floor with most non-KD Warriors teams.
Really a shame, and typical Cleveland bad luck.
