Lifting Our Game (Please Read)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Admirable post but can't say that I agree with this part. The humor is a big part of what I love about this site and don't think it should be limited to Off Topic.

What would I be without my one-liners? Well, i would still be fat, bald and Jewish (although being jewish is a good thing)...but you get the point. :chuckles:

Oddly enough, every single one of my close friends is either 100% Jewish or 1/2 Jewish but the funny thing is not a single one of them is religious or even considers themself as such. I don't know if that is a testament to young Jews not practicing their face or just younger people in general not practicing faith.

Practicing our face? Are you saying that Jews have big noses? I am offended Split.

So you are saying we cant get mad at the cavs when they play poor?

"What did you say Chardon? I can't read it."

How about those members who might make quality posts, but their avatars are so distracting you have a hard time reading their posts? :)

Put the hammer down! :D

(added) oops. I know I know; "go to your control panel and turn off avatars."

What is the system for determining who gets the hammer?

It's actually easier to determine how NOT to get the hammer. In a sense, it's a lot like real life.

1) Be respectful. Don't call people names or badmouth them. Listen to the admins and mods; they are in a position of authority for a reason. Treat people nicely and you're bound to be treated nicely in return.
2) Be thoughtful. Have a point and support it. Don't post every random thought you have about every topic. And please take the time to word your posts as well as you can. This isn't the place for "leet speak" or long strings of internet shorthand. Remember: Quality over Quantity.

As long as you stick to those basic rules, you'll have nothing to worry about here. There's a great bunch of people here who are pretty easy to get along with as long as you follow those guidelines. And don't be afraid to ask an admin or mod if you're unsure of something. They are definitely busy people, but that's part of the reason they're here.

The system is, if you are just an inconceivable bastard or moronic poster then we may ban you from the start but if we feel there is some semblance of a useful soul hidden in there, we may warn you first. I have seen some members turn it around when prompted and these are usually the ones that respond favorably when we ask them to step up their game. It's been ban hammer time this offseason but I think we have gotten rid of a lot of the horrible posters and gained several top notch guys.

Pretty much just a general rule around here...

Dont.Be.A.Douche !

Nostrakarmus preaching truth. I know I'm not the best poster, heck, I've said some extremely dumb stuff. But the quality of individual posts and threads have gone down considerably since the Cavs became a popular team (but more so now than around 2007).

For every 1 good new poster, there are around 100 new members that make the forum a hostile or annoying environment for the veteran or more experienced members. I'm sick of reading who twat what and how trading our whole bench for one mildly productive power forward would make our team better.

I vote for a 3 strike system.

That's a problem in general with new Cavs fans. They've only recently started paying attention; There's no reason why they should understand what's going on in basketball if they've only begun watching it in January. I starting following the Cavs and basketball in LeBron's first season so I'm a bit of a bandwagon fan. But, even though Cleveland wasn't a good team for several years and I didn't understand what was going on for the first year or so, I stuck with it and now I feel like I have an acceptable understanding of what's going on.

Realistically, most of the recent fans will stop paying attention if Cleveland opens up the season 15 and 15, but the ones who stick around will more likely than not be worthwhile basketball fans.

Get yourself attached to a sports blog with the right mentality and cross promote. There's a good way to build. But you guys would prefer to warn and boot me even though my blog is based on positivity and done by the most dedicated Cleveland fans out there. Pretty sad to here an admin bitching who does not have the decency to have a conversation with someone having success early on in the game. We could help each other, if you want this to not be a joke then start thinking outside the box and make connections!

If your website had rules, you would expect the members to follow them. We have rules and you have broken them more than once. There are better ways to network then to constantly promote your site while adding nothing to ours. You will need to learn that going forward in your endeavors. The way that you have chosen to approach this situation will doom you in the future. The acceptable course of action would have been to apologize for breaking the rules, becoming more in tune with how we do things here, and approaching an admin about your promotional ideas privately. The "rage against the machine" act is not getting you anywhere.

what do we have to prove or compete against to be the "best"? the real question is: who cares what others think? dont suck the fun out of it.

Old thread is old. This is the best Cavs board on the net- bar none. We get plenty of serious discussion and plenty of humor, too. We'd probably all go insane if we didn't have the humor because of the trbl state of the Cavs and the countless frustrations.
