Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brantley's ship has sailed from the north coast. He's too costly and they have too many young players that need opportunities. I have no reason to not believe what Ed posted, but even if it weren't true the situation would remain the same IMO.

The Lindor trade likely influences this too. I just can't believe that they are not going to get at least 1 OFer in the deal.

Indians will take the best deal they can get for Lindor. I think they would like a legit OF, but you cannot go just by position alone especially in baseball. You have to go with the best talent so thats what they will do... Indians are tight lipped about moves, but we will know around the winter meetings (usually a significant trade like that with possible extension added on the trade).

Also this season will have a lot of likely non-tendered players. Hernandez was non tendered and he turned out being almost a steal for us. Indians are great at dumpster diving for players so I think someone will show up again in 21 to help out.

You didn't ask two more questions which are..

Does Cleveland have the cap to sign Brantley? No..

Does Brantley want to play in Cleveland? That answer is no

Reason why is because of what @EdMonix11 stated.

Brantley will only come back if we offer him significantly higher than everyone else and we cannot even afford Brantley to begin with....Not sure how that doesn't fit into your narrative.

I go onto forums like this and provide comments.. you can agree.. or disagree.. that's your choice.. but this isn't that.. this is an attempt to show YOU'RE WRONG and I'M NOT..

In as much as you and everyone that posts here has no internal knowledge of the Indians budget, defining the limitations of cap space (there isn't a cap in MLB) wasn't offered or salient in my comments... Affordability can be measured and manipulated in several ways.. none of which start and end with: IT CAN'T BE DONE !!!! THE END..

The desire of this particular player playing in Cleveland was also not discussed or presented in my comment. The allegation of insider information was only addressed as "...if you chose to believe it..that's your choice." You and everyone who posts on this forum do not have an intimate knowledge of what this particular player or his representative is thing at this time in this moment as Michael Brantley enters into his age 34 season ( a season that saw Dr. Smooth have perhaps a wonderful year)... making this comment irrelevant.

If Cleveland offers HUMPTY DUMPTY the most money.. Humpty plays in Cleveland, most likely, but not absolutely. My narrative has zero to do with the money.. it has to do with the player.. or the kind of player Michael Brantley is & the point of my narrative..

Anthony Castrovince posted this about a week ago.. IDK if it's been posted here.. If it has..it's worthy of a re-think.... if not:

1. Mets.. generally, mets/indians deals have a tendency to be bad.. both ways.. while not wishing anything untoward to Frankie Lindor.. the deal has some merit. It provides at least one ML OF'er that fills a need.. the prospect haul.. seems like a lot of the same as the Indians already have..

2. Angels.. not even close to enough..and what they do have to offer.. meh..

3. Cardinals.. The Cardinals were like the Indians.. offensively challenged in 2020.. The Cardinals do have a couple of young ML OF'ers and a pretty fair number of prospects.. The ones mentioned by AC: Nolan Gorman 3B, LHP's Liberator and Thompson and Ivan Herrera would fill out the "dance card".. A deal could be had as both teams seem to trade between each other pretty frequently.. AC's idea of adding T-Mac w/ Lindor for a REALLY big haul might fit better with the cardinals or a Cardinals/Indians/3rd Team three way deal..

4. Phillies.. already mentioned.. and a worthy trade partner..if the deal is focussed on Bohm plus..

5. Reds.. like the cardinals.. are a better fit with a Lindor/Tmac leaving.. type deal. An enormous haul returning would be needed.. More exploration of a deal with the Reds will certainly be considered and discussed at the GM and Winter meetings..

6. Dodgers.. have been discussed ad nauseum.. One of Will Smith/Keibert Ruiz.. an OF'er.. etc etc. (and probably NOT Gavin Lux..but, that could change) could all become part of a deal/overhaul of the Indians offense.. The Dodgers usually make deals where they clearly win.. Getting Lindor.. would be a HUGE win for the Dodgers..

7. Yankees.. neither last nor least.. A deal centered around Red Thunder and NOT Deivi Garcia would be the starting point..

Don’t see the Dodgers fit for Lindor. What would they do with Seager who coincidentally is a FA in 2022 too?

According to Castrovince.. move Seagar to 3B.. which would be open based on Turner being a free agent at the conclusion of the 2020 season.. Keibert Ruiz is mentioned as one of the targets for the Tribe.. If he's anywhere close to Will Smith.. the Dodgers will have a LOGJAM of epic proportions behind the dish starting in 2021..

There is certainly still a fit with the Dodgers as Turner will be a FA, but every time that a Lindor trade is mentioned it's hard not to see how Cinncy isn't one, if not the best possibilities. Lindor fills their biggest need and they have everything that CLE will be looking for in return. Not to mention the trade history between the 2 teams.

Just say no to Senzel as a centerpiece,

Looking at the Reds as a potential trade partner.. there are a couple of guys that should clearly be considered.. and other that have red flags that say.. steer clear..

Steer Clear:

-Nick Senzel... Uncommonly unlucky in 2020 (.206 BABIP).. Has been on the DL every year since joining the Reds as the # 2 overall pick in 2018.. Has shown flashes.. but, can't stay on the field.. and hasn't performed.. IDK that he can.. but, he has all the tools needed to perform at a high level..

-Hunter Greene.. Uncommonly talented.. Has been on the DL most of his playing career with the Reds after they made him the # 2 overall pick in 2017. The news reports on him is that he is now healthy after having gone through TJ surgery and should be able to progress.. not on the Indians dime..

Interesting ML Players who may be available:

Nobody.. not even Aquino or Senzel..

Prospects to consider that are near MLB ready or MLB ready:

-Jose Israel Garcia.. think Xander Bogaerts with a better glove, more range and a better arm. He can hit and hit with power.. Is about the best SS prospect the Reds have had since Barry Larkin played on the shores of the Ohio River..

-Tyler Stephenson.. about as good as any prospect catcher in the minor leagues w/r to tools and readiness for the Major Leagues (some C's are more talented.. but none are close to being as ready as Stephenson is).. Has already made an appearance in the ML's and looked like he should be there.. or has been there for a hundred years.. Good work ethic.. really gets it as a receiver..

-Mike Siani.. I like him better than Senzel as a defensive outfielder.. I am not as certain about his bat, however, he's so young (just 21 entering the 2021 season) that he hasn't had a chance to mature, physically.. everything else about him says he's a gamer.. sort of a real MLB outfielder version of Ka'ai Tom..

-Jonathan India.. interesting prospect that is currently blocked by Eugenio Suarez.. Has all the tools you'd look for in a 3B..but is ONLY a 3B.. has the hands, arm and quick twitch to play the hot corner.. his speed, range and arm will not hold him back from being anything from a middle infielder (2B) to corner outfielder.. He really understands the strike zone and can just about call the pitch he's going to see before the pitcher decides.. He swings at strikes.. You have to like that about a prospect like this..

-Nick Lodolo.. the only arm to be considered.. this is a LHSP that is only a year and a wake up away from being in the top tier of LH starting pitchers in MLB. The one pitch missing from his arsenal.. was a change up.. and he now has an incredible fading/tumbling version that can be and is, a wipe out.. I seriously doubt the Reds would sacrifice Lodolo for one year of Frankie Lindor, alone.. More would be needed in return for this guy to be included in any deal with the indians..

Throw-in names to consider:

Joel Kuhnel RP
Miguel Triano OF

At the end of the day.. the Reds are a good match for what the Indians need.. albeit, not immediately ready for MLB.. The Reds would LOVE to keep Bauer and add Lindor.. That would be the best scenario for both teams given the realities of fiscal sanity....

Thoughts?...

I see the Cardinals as having the type of package the Indians go for. Tyler O'neill (former top 100 prospect), Tommy Edman, Genesis Cabrera, prospect or two.

I think like Naylor and Quantrill guys like O'neill, Edman are Indian type of buys because they have made the majors, been so so and really could go either way at this point. So they can be had easier than top prospects. You can get them AND prospects.

What makes you think the Reds are ready to $20 million in payroll in 2021, especially with the prospect of no fans in the stadium before summer.

Two things..

1. I didn't say the Reds would be ready (or not ready) to add $ 20 MM.. and

2. IDK how much or how little the deal will net either/both clubs.. By you stating there is a net increase of $ 20 MM to the Reds without the benefit of the fully defined deal makes little sense for the question posed...

Some or all of the players mentioned.. are the ones that could interest the Indians... There may be others..

Gson: My point was and remains that creating prospect wish lists, while entertaining, has no relevance to whether said targets will be made available. We all enjoy the speculation but it really has very little meaning. Speaking of wild speculation, check out bleacher report predictions for 2021 MLB. Includes Bauer, Frankie, and Brantley.
