Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hey, everyone. Longtime reader, first time poster. Love the insight here and all the different opinions but I thought I would chime in.

Times are rough now for this ownership so unless selling is on the horizon I think it’s time to start flipping our best assets. I’m tired of the “retooling”. Let’s be honest, we will probably compete and might make the playoffs but nothing to take us over the hump yet. Our division is getting tougher. I was honestly in favor of trading Lindor before the start of last season. I love the kid but the return would’ve been colossal. We were not competing with our OF situation. We’re just delaying the inevitable.

I suggest trading Lindor, Cookie & Ramirez. I’m not going to make hypothetical trades now but they all have immense value. Especially Jose. His return alone can change our whole farm system. I advocate shooting for the best prospects. Enough with taking a lesser return to get pieces that can “help now”. I trust the Indians brain trust to develop pitchers. So I would like to bring a pitcher back in each trade (can never have enough) to have a greater percentage of success. What I don’t trust is their ability to develop impactful hitters. Especially in the outfield. But I’m not prioritizing positions of need. I want the best prospects from each team and we’ll figure out the positions later. If anything we would be loaded to the brim to pull off trades for affordable proven players.

I know everyone is worried about our rotation being win now but they’re all young. We have plenty of money to buy out Bieber’s arb years and tack on some more. The Indians have always had a great track record of making those type of deals, plus players always want security early on. We’ll still have a lot more on the way from the pipeline and through trades.

That’s my 2 cents. We all love our beloved Indians and want the best for them but our situation is grim right now. Also, no more Lindor to Yankees trade scenarios. Screw them! Andújar has no value for me. I don’t get the Frazier love fest to bring him back. He’s a nice player but not a headliner at this point for me. They have some nice pitching prospects but nothing to sway me in their favor. The fact that they can actually afford to pay him a long term contract would actually not make me entertain any offer that does not include Gleyber Torres AND Jasson Dominguez. Yes, I hate the Yankees.

Welcome KDawg! Good to hear from you. I'm with you. I'm tired of halfassing the lineup especially when talking about the OF. I don't agree with you on Frazier, but that's ok, we don't have to agree. Your opinion is respected here and I think you'll find that everyone is rather accepting. Since being promoted at the age of 22 Frazier has accumulated about a full seasons worth of AB. His line in those 524 AB is 258/331/475/806 with 24 HR. He is 26 now, past the concussion issues, and entering his prime yrs. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect his numbers to improve at least slightly. Andujar will be 26 in March and his bat is equal to Frazier's, but I don't know where and how he would fit in the field. I've read where he appears to be at least adequate in LF and started taking reps there before the Yankees approached him about it. If Jones isn't ready and Bauers and Bradley are done in the organization then both Frazier and Andujar could work in LF and RF. The days of not having corner OFers with potent bats would be over. Mercado and Johnson could handle CF and the 4th OF duties.

The rotation is as strong as ever and will probably get deeper with the trade of Lindor and/or Carrasco. If they decide to trade Ramirez then it will be for an absolute haul that would address a few other needs.

@Gson You honestly went to far...

Antonetti talked about Bauers at the end of the season. He would be the best source one of us could get, is he not?

Also Ed is right, almost all the guys you mentioned have about the same level of minor league experience so why are they so different?
No.. it isn't too far or far fetched to believe all three could be dealt..

IDK why the level of minor league experience matters.. but, WhamwiththeRight during his 8:29 AM posting this morning stated.. ".. if they traded Lindor, CC, and Hosey in the same off-season would be to acquire a number of young players who would immediately slot in as top ten prospects in the organization. Combine that group with the top prospects we already have and it would create a huge wave of emerging talent that are all within a three-year age range..."

That wave of talent would begin, as I stated in this forum in the last few days, no sooner that 2022..but would make the indians competitive and their current pitching staff and additional arms relevant to truly compete from that point forward [2022] through 2026...

That's a four year window.. just when Bieber, our first SP would become a FA.. Everyone else, except Cookie, would be here.. Civale.. Plesac.. McKenzie.. Quantrill.. etc etc and the next ten guys including the trades..

As far as Trevor Bauers is concerned.. I'll be surprised if he isn't non-tendered. He proved he had a LOUSY attitude.. then showed he couldn't hit.. Next he exhibited disdain for wearing a leather glove on one hand at any spot on the diamond.. This is a guy who needs a KICK IN THE ASS, not false praise.. Chris Antonetti, responds positively for all players.. or says very little. The thimbleful of words that Antonetti has uttered on behalf of Trevor Bauers is more telling that ANYTHING.. Bauers either puts up.. and PUTS UP NOW or he's gone.. as he should be..

IMHO.. he should have been gone already...

Thoughts?..

You do mean Jake Bauers I presume.

Your comments towards @EdMonix11 went to far, plain and simple, I dont mind you opinions, but please leave your opinions towards others on here out of your posts. Leave it i dont agree and add nothing else.

Ed was quoting Antonetti essentially towards Bauers. Antonetti felt he turned the corner and could be apart of the team in 21. Jake Bauers isn't Arbitration Eligible yet, so I am not sure how he could be non-tendered lol. He's also still young and with the Indians usually waiting until a young player is out of options before they release them, Bauers has a season left to prove himself and without a proven 1B and OF, he legitimately will get a chance. So deal with the fact Bauers will be in spring training.

Also I know better about how much the three players could get us since I was like the first person on here to suggest that we could trade JRam, but since we are retooling and not rebuilding, we arent moving JRam. JRam will be the anchor in the middle of the lineup.

Also the Indians will bring up guys when they are ready, they cannot pay too many guys at once and you still need veterans on a roster. Part of the reason why we have had such a great run of pitchers is the fact the older pitchers embraced the younger pitchers helped them get acclimated to the pros.

Josh Tomlin just got a two year deal with Atlanta not because of his stats, but because he is a leader for the young pitchers (he's able to fill in multiple spots to as well). Dont underestimate having veterans who embrace helping younger players around when you are getting young/retooling.

We should all take whatever the FO says about a current controlled player with a grain of salt.. They will never throw them under the bus and try to heap praise when asked. A manager might under certain circumstances call someone out but almost all GM, player development types WILL NOT.... Examples include Zimmers reworked swing, Reyes work/ability in the OF.....

Bauers is still young and has opportunities... But will have to produce to end up in the OF or at 1B... Right now Naylor has his spot and I hope/expect will keep it. Bauers will have to HIT his way back in if things go well. If not, it is all hands on deck and that includes Bauers, Bradley, etc.

Antonetti brought Bauers up and nobody else. He was not asked specifically about his development. Our insiders around here even confirmed that the organization is quite happy with his development this year.

Naylor is staying in LF. Bauers is RF/1B at the moment. There's room for both.

I agree, he needs to produce and won't be handed anything.

I'm not saying, and haven't said, anything about Bauers ability or his long term future with the organization. Just saying he's likely gonna get a legit look this year and as he should. He's 25 and a former top-100 prospect.

I enjoy your insight and love you sexy, but I think Bauers is gonna have to pry Naylor and even Bradley off 1B at this point. It is time to see who can stick. On further thought, it might be a battle between the two Bs - Bauers and Bradley for 1B. If neither one instills confidence at the onset of 2021 season it will be Naylor IMO.

Guys like Johnson and even Tom may cloud the outfield situation... May the best man win.

Also it sounds like the 1B free agent market could be flooded as well. It may not actually be easy to get 1B and thats a good thing in my mind.

Bauers was humbled last year when he didn't get a single at-bat with the Indians despite them having the worst hitting outfield since the dead ball era. Talk about a smack upside the head. The previous season he was so bad they sent him down and traded for a package that included Puig to finish the season. After the season they traded for DeShields. Last year they picked up Naylor in mid-season. I don't think they see him as an outfielder at all.

But with Santana leaving and Bradley impersonating a windmill in his brief ML trial, first base is wide open. If Bauers shows he's fixed his flaws at the plate he has a legitimate shot at the job, especially since that would allow them to fill an outfield hole with Naylor. But after working on his swing all winter after the 2018 season he showed up at spring training last year and was awful. I think he had one hit. He plays a corner infield position so the stick is paramount. But he's in the right organization because other than Naylor we don't have anybody right now.

If the free agent market is "flooded" with first basemen then we might just pick up a guy on a cheap one-year deal. Or target a ready-to-play guy in the Lindor deal.

Yeah, Bauers isn't going to sniff RF. Hell, he's not very good in LF. He has a 1B glove and a UIF bat. Bauers may have been a top 100 prospect, but at no point in time in his professional career has he been an offensive force. He certainly doesn't profile as a corner player if you believe in setting offensive expectations based on positions. He's never had an OPS higher than .791 and that was in A ball. He carries a good OBP. He's just not the type of player/prospect that you allow to get in the way of a higher ceiling player IMO.

Jones is close and is profiling more as a 1B as time passes.

Bradley has no other position to play and is an offensive force if he can cut down on the K's.

Naylor can play an adequate 1B if a corner OFer is brought in or filled from within.

Bottom line, Bauers is going to have to light the world on fire. What he needs is a change of scenery TBH.

Bauers' change of scenary should begin with learning to speak Korean.. Any player who:

-Can't hit..
-Doesn't field all that well..
-Won't listen..

Gets lots of new scenary opportunities..

To this point, Rowdy Tellez would make a lot of sense in a Lindor trade with Toronto if they refuse to trade either Gurriel or Hernandez.
