Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Castrovince proposal:

Blue Jays get: SS Francisco Lindor and RHP Triston McKenzie
Indians get: OF Lourdes Gurriel Jr., RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (Blue Jays’
No. 4 prospect), SS Rikelvin De Castro (Blue Jays’ No. 17 prospect) and RHP Julian Merryweather (Blue Jays’ No. 20 prospect).

You cannot replace a Lindor. The talent is too rare and expensive. It has to be developed/drafted/traded for by an organization such as Cleveland's.

While it's true nobody they put at SS will be as good, I do think it's possible to trade him and end up as good or better as a team. A loooot has to go right, of course. But Washington won it all a year after Harper walked for nothing.

Absolutely not! If you want McKenzie with Lindor then the price will be a lot steeper than that. They would essentially be getting McKenzie for a 17 yr old SS that wouldn't even be in our top 20 and a 29 yr old RHP that hasn't made it to the majors yet due to injuries. No f'n way! Replace Castro with Groshans and Merryweather with Kloffenstein and we may have a deal. We don't need or have to trade McKenzie and he has regained his top prospect status at this point. Hell, most would argue that he is worth more than Lindor so my suggestion may not be enough. WTF are these guys smokin' to suggest such crazy offers?

If McKenzie would have been traded, it would have been before now, I dont think they will trade McKenzie. If they did, its because of his injury history and Merryweather, I am not against getting, but he is 29, so he will have 3-4 years of good production before he hits his downturn.

@Steve_424 I'd say a deal with Lindor and McKenzie would more be like:

Lindor and McKenzie for OF Guirrel, 3B Groshans, SP Woods-Richardson, SP Merryweather and C Riley Adams and likely one more prospect (like we got Nova in a sense).

I dont think the Blue Jays would actually take that, but that would be what we would want for McKenzie and Lindor deal.

If the Indians trade a SP that is worth having it will be Carrasco. For a team that's trying to stay competitive while at the same time reduce payroll, trading McKenzie makes little sense.

I don't necessarily believe that Cookie's trade value is limited. He's worth more than he's signed for and there are options. So any team that would acquire his services are not tied to him for 3 yrs unless they want to be.

There is no way on this earth that I trade Plesac. He's everything this team should be looking to get and hold onto. Young, inexpensive, and talented.
There is a way..on this planet.. Example of a deal posted to one of the vast number of MLB Trade boards, all fan driven:

Reds get:
Zach Plesac
Brayan Rocchio
Francisco Lindor
BTV value = 108.6

Indians get:
Nick Senzel
Tyler Stephenson
Jose Garcia
Jonathan India
Hunter Greene
BTV value = 107.1

As can be seen.. the Indians would reduce their ML SP cadre by one, but would add back a potential TOR SP in his place. This done while adding two left side of the infield near or mlb ready players, fixing the catching situation grandly and filling a ready now outfielder.

This is a deal that HAS to be considered..if not on earth.. then other planets !

BTW.. the guy who posted this.. then move Hunter Greene to the Angels for Brandon Marsh, one of Jordyn Adams/Alexander Ramirez, and a Jack Kochanowicz.. I liked the return for Greene who could become as good as Gerritt Cole.. or never overcome the injury that put him on the shelf.. Either way.. there are deals where Plesac being moved makes sense..

BTW

The way Plesac pitched, if he developed his curveball all the way and makes it an out pitch, I think he's a legit SP and we shouldn't trade. The Indians FO is very creative in trades and willing to do what they need to do, but I really doubt Plesac will be traded.

Strongly agree Tribe should not trade Plesac barring some other worldly return.

History has shown that once a player has fallen out of favor with the CLEFO.. it's only a matter of time before that player is moved off the roster.. sometimes to pursue their post playing career.. other times for a return the Tribe cannot live without.. A starting OF'er that can catch the ball, throw the ball and hit the ball.. is pretty much the definition of what the Tribe cannot live without...

That is a horrible proposal and coming from the perspective that the Indians are so against paying Lindor that they will just dump him for a few magic beans. They can probably do better at the trade deadline than some of these suggestions and hopefully see where a few of these prospects are after a year off the grid.

Honestly at the deadline they will get way less, unless we figure out a way to get Lindor extended with the trade, we arent going to get more than 3ish players for Lindor.

Carrasco and the starting pitchers will have good value still, but Carrasco cannot be traded at the trade deadline since he will get his 10/5 Rights and Cleveland doesn't want to trade SPs with years of control that arent in arbitration yet. So its either in the off season or not at all for all names mentioned for the most part.

People need to understand that the 10/5 rights are not "No Trade" but a "Right to Veto a trade" for the player. So Yes, Cookie can be traded at the next deadline. He just has some say so/ needs to buy into the deal.

Some players (with the ability to veto a deal) will approve a deal if it works out better for their family life. Some will do it to go from out of a playoff chase to being in the playoffs. Others will do it under the agreement to have their contract option pickup..

It was noted earlier that Cookie likes pitching for the Tribe but he also has a home in the Tampa area. What if Tampa deals Snell during the off season but finds itself in need of a starter (like Cookie come July) while many things have gone wrong for the Tribe. Can everyone be sure Cookie would turn down a deal if Tampa would agree to pickup the $14M option (vs $3M buyout) in 2023??

Until I see what the Lindor trade actually is (time will tell) I believe that the Tribe is NOT looking to deal Cookie or JRam this off-season..

Carrasco i don't think will go anywhere outside of Tampa once he gets his 10/5. I understand he can veto any trade and with his history and whats he has said, its going to be very hard for me to believe he doesn't veto a trade.

I'd disagree with the Tribe waiting for the Lindor trade to be consummated before making a deal.. There is a very good likelihood that a Cookie deal and a JRam deal will fill the roster nicely... enough to give the CLEFO the belief that going for it in 2021 would include having Frankie at SS for the entire season. The CLEFO may also be of the opinion that they will have a better chance to KEEP Frankie if he stays through the 2021 season, the tribe has a parade down Euclid culminating with a turn south on East 9th... and the pandemic means the eleven SS's will be picked from all the teams that have NO $$$$$ to buy high end SS's the next 10 years including Frankie. Under that situation.. Frankie may Bauer his next deal.. a one year mega-AAV deal that "any team" can afford..

Thoughts?...

There are deals where trading anyone "makes sense", but trading Plesac and Keeping Carrasco seems very unlikely to me. To trade Plesac and Carrasco would be cutting a little deep into what is this team's strength IMO. Hell, trading Carrasco means that another SP will have to step up(I'm looking at you Mr. Allen). If I'm sending Plesac and Lindor to the Reds then Lodolo has to be involved. They can keep Garcia because we have plenty of SS depth and they don't. I personally don't like the idea because I see a solid #2 or #3 in Plesac. If they want to talk about Civale then I would be willing to listen, but he won't be cheap either.
