Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why you excluding catchers? Happens to be the worst depth of any position in the Cleveland organization. Also Perez and Hedges are both due a loftier sum next season so the Indians need to get a heir apparent for Perez.

I mean we have Naylor, but outside of him, we have very little. We need catching talent and if we trade with the Blue Jays or the Mets, their will be a very good backup for Naylor available and not very expensive

The way I see it with Lindor gone we have zero proven MLB talent at SS, 2B, 1B, LF, CF, and RF. Why we would use our huge trade chip to add to a position where we already have two proven MLB talents when we have so many obvious holes is beyond me.

We have MLB holes at those positions, but our system has a million guys for 2B, SS and a bunch of guy in theory who can move to 3B or 1B from that crew. Our OF has talent, just no one who has proven themselves. We have absolutely no depth at C, I always feel you plan for now and the future and the Indians organization always plans for both.

We need OF help especially now, but I feel you have to let guys get a chance as well, so I am expecting a legit MLB player plus two at AAA for Lindor. We will then bring in more veterans on minor league deals with invites to compete with the young guys for the roster. It sucks, but we dont have much choice.

Random thoughts.....

1. It is time to accept/expect Nolan Jones to play minimal if any time at 3B.
2. Will Reyes play more than 10% of his games as a position player?
3. Chang will get a chance to make it or break it this year... See Gio Urshela
4. Tmac may not stick as a starter, but seeing how most every single person thickens up as they age and his youth... You keep him there until he plays himself out of the rotation.
5. Our BP especially the righties might be a top 3 group next season
6. Trading Lindor should focus on getting the players with the greatest potential .
7. Next year Mercado won't be as bad as he was in 2020 but won't be as good as 2019.

1. Nolan Jones will be the 1B for this team. Maybe before next season is over.
2. Depends on who the sign/acquire, but there's a pretty good chance he'll see more time in the OF.
3. Chang will get his opportunity and rightfully so. How long will the leash be is the real question.
4. TMac's a starter until he isn't.
5. Yes, the BP should be good and I hope that Gose can contribute.
6. Trading Lindor should address areas of need. We don't need more MIF prospects.
7. Mercado is in the same boat as Chang. Make hay while the sun's shining or beat feet.

I guess in regard to #1..... Who is better at 1st? Jones or Naylor? Who is better in the OF? Jones or Naylor? I think Jones's arm alone makes him a "better" OF option. But if Naylor is a butcher at 1st, you look to hide that glove in the outfield. No matter where they end up in the field, I don't think it is a difference maker as long as their bats play well.

Jones isn't playing 1B next season... Maybe down the line but right now he will not be

Are you referring to Korn's lead singer or the shitty OFer for the Blue Jays when you mention Jonathon Davis? Neither is really desirable and neither is Reid-Foley. At the rate that BP arms are entering FA this offseason, there is no reason to trade for one that isn't very established. I'd rather get Groshans, Woods Richardson, and Kloffenstein in that deal. If Groshans isn't part of the return for Lindor then Toronto can F off. In my humble opinion and respectively of course.

Just get it over with already, call the Yankees and Get Frazier and Gil. If they can get Andujar too then fine. He and Reyes can compete for LF duties with the loser being relegated to DH. I would be happy with Reyes/Andujar in LF, Mercado or Johnson in CF and 4th OF, and Frazier in RF. Reyes, Andujar, Frazier, and Naylor will give Ramirez ample protection. Other than LF, the OF defense would be palatable.

If they don't/can't get Andujar then get Frazier, Gil, and Florial and sign Hunter Renfroe. The defense would probably be better and Renfroe would provide as much or more power than Andujar, but his overall hit tool isn't as good.
With Urshela undergoing elbow surgery, Yankees will not be trading Andujar.

OF has been atrocious for how long now? Maybe snag a stud there through trade. Just so we can then trade that stud OF years from now.

Urshela has a proven track record.. if he's got an injury.. even a slight one.. his hitting tanks.. His glove remains constant and solid.. but.. Andujar wasn't going to play 3B for the NYY's anyway.. he's a LFer or 1B'er.. Look at the NYY's to resign DJL and/or Justin Turner.. possibly moving Torres to 3B.. The Urshela set back will improve the chances the NYY's make a trade or acquisition.. & there are plenty of guys who can fill their needs..

Naylor runs much better than Jones while Jones’ glove is better at 1B.

If Naylor and Jones are on the roster then Jones will be at 1B and Naylor in LF. If you’re saying that Jones won’t make the opening day roster then I don’t disagree.

Jones hasn't played any 1B yet and won't be at 1B in 20

Respectfully disagree (but hey I’m always wrong). I think Yankees will wait until spring to gauge Urshella’s recovery progress before making any moves and with their already full outfield, I don’t see moving Andujar there as very likely.

"Nolan Jones — The club's top prospect, Jones is getting additional work in the outfield and at first base in an effort to give him as many roads to the majors as possible in 2021."

"A better athlete than his below-average speed might indicate, Jones has worked hard to transition from high school shortstop to pro third baseman. He has the strong arm required at the hot corner and he has improved his footwork and agility. He's on his way to becoming an average defender at third base and has a fallback of playing the other infield or outfield corners."

We're talking Thome speed in the field and on the basepaths. Again, if he and Naylor are both on the roster then Naylor will be playing LF for 2 reasons. First, Naylor's profile fits better in LF. Second, Jones profile is definitely that of a 1B. Realistically, I expect Jones to start the season in Columbus and force his way to Cleveland at some point in the season.

Nolan Jones is 6'3" and slow, but he has a good IF glove and a strong arm. His lack of range will not look good in LF.

Josh Naylor is 5'11" and runs much better than Jones. His arm is adequate for LF and he has displayed the ability to make some difficult plays. He's at least an average LFer since he lost all that weight.
