It’s obvious, when watching the CAVs game, that the team in general is not happy playing with Sexton. It is more than K. Love. Sexton is the common denominator that is disrupting the team. The Coaching Staff keeps preaching “pass the ball” to find the open man. It is obvious they don’t want to pass to Sexton because he isn’t a team player. He is a ball hog. Playing defense on him would be easy because every time he touches the ball you know he’ll be shooting. I feel bad for the other players and coaching staff because he wants to play Sexton ball. He needs to be traded or at least demoted to coming off the bench.

He took 22 shots tonight in 36 minutes. I hardly think he shoots every time he gets the ball. He had two assists - between them Kevin Love and Cedi Osman had one. In any event, if Sexton isn't doing what he's being told to do out there it's up to the coach to cut his minutes. So far that hasn't happened, so I would expect Beilein to get more grief around here.

Ultimately - Belein has to resolve this.

I know what I see. I'm "in the tank" for Sexton to a degree as a player, but he HAS to pass the ball. He is not Kyrie Irving, where at least you could justify all that dribbling because you know he's just an elite scorer. He needs to be able to see the court, see where the mismatches are and get the ball there. You will not win in the NBA if the ball doesn't move.

So I get it. I'm not mad at Kevin Love, but the way this is playing out publicly is not a good look. For him, because it destroys his ability to find a new home. This is very Kyrie/Dion, but even more so Dion/LeBron.

Waiting for the Love-Sexton fistfight, it might happen soon if Love is not traded...

For Sexton, it is true that greatest strength is greatest weakness too... He is too tenacious/stubborn to change his game, still palying his hs/college style hero ball...

I can see why teamates would hate playing with him....

It's a catch 22 with Beilein and keeping Love happy when it involves Sexton. They can take their lumps and build Sexton up as a PG, most likely resulting in blow out after blow out. Love would get mad that they aren't competing. The rest of the team would probably just quit at some point too.

Beilein can also just allow Sexton to do what he does best and score. Sexton was the leading scorer tonight and played pretty effectively. The team needs Sexton's consistent scoring to stay in game. I think they are just letting Sexton be a scorer right now to keep the ship a float. When they have some more consistent scorers, I expect Beilein to try to develop Sexton's passing skills and build his vision. Maybe when they move Love, Beilein will try to focus on Sexton's development, especially if they can't stay in games with the roster construction.

What did Love think he was signing up for? Maybe he could try leading by example? Block a shot? Get to the foul line by being aggressive?

Not like he's been a great role model for these guys. We would have dealt you already if there was a market for you. Cash your checks and play hard. Don't show up your teammates and coach.

Sexton isn't the type of player Beilein wants imo, Altman/Dan are to blame for that mess.

Stop throwing the ball into outer space.

Try to defend.

Get back on defense.

Stop the turnovers.

The list goes on with Love but he wants to complain.

It was difficult trading Love with his massive contract, now with his tirade it gets to be even more impossible.

Dont understand this hatred on sexton. Like he is the reason we arent a playoff team

This is also true. Especially now that Clarkson's gone, the scoring isn't very consistent. It's funny, for as much as I used to get frustrated with Clarkson's tunnel vision (tank commanding) he at least got the ball in the hoop. That's definitely been felt as of late.

The contract is not that massive for his production and $ declines every year. On the right team he would be more than useful for 2-3 years. He will get dealt. Not expecting a ton back but he will be moved
Disappointed in love not being professional in all of this. Surprised how professional tt has been. Kudos to him

His turnover rate is worse than 81% of the league's big men and yes he needs to get back quicker on defense. But to be fair, his turnover rate has dropped each month; 3.3 per game in Oct, 2.8 in Nov, 2.5 in Dec, and 2.0 in two games in Jan.

Fewer traveling calls as he gets used to the tighter rules interpretation and he seems to be forcing fewer long outlet passes that frequently get stolen or go out of bounds.

Beilein took the blame for not noticing that Love was being guarded by Chris Paul in the low post at the end of the first half. He was telling Sexton to kill the clock so if Love is pissed at anybody it should be the coach.

At least Love cares about trying to win, but he needs to talk to Beilein about his frustrations off camera. This throwing up of arms, yelling at the coach, and pounding chairs needs to stop. In his defense, some players have just quit in his situation, being on a 10-25 team after being an NBA Champion. This is strictly a developmental year but he still wants to win, so I give him credit for that.

I don't think Beilein is going to push to get rid of Sexton. My guess is he will just keep trying to develop him and the rest of the young guys. I think he understands he was brought in to be a teacher. I doubt Koby and the rest of the organization see Beilein as our long term coach with his age. Beilein will develop this group for a couple years and my guess someone else will take over who is more of an NBA guy. I doubt he will get fired but it will just be that he retires.
