Love dissatisfaction with CAVs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here's the part of that column that jumped out at me:

"It’s how the NBA has evolved in a nutshell: Graham’s personal leap has come at a time when the league is ripe for guards like him—slightly undersized, great handles, killer 3-point shot—to flourish."

Slightly undersized, great handles, killer 3-point shot. I'm hoping Sexton and Garland can get there. They have the first part already.

Out of the 3 , Sexton has the slightly undersized part.. not sure it's a good thing.

If we're giving Graham (Career 36.2%) the the 3 point shooting category then Sexton has to be there too (Career 37.2%). Obviously hasn't been a great start this year and somethings seems off but just saying...

I thought he handled the apologies really well regarding the chair thing in Toronto and the OKC play call dispute with Beilein. More than a little confused about how he wasn't upset about the fine but instead on how it was delivered and he didn't elaborate further...odd. The Joker IG post being about the poor team record is one I'm not buying either. He did admit he's too emotional and we witnessed that the last 5 years but the anger/bad teammate thing was new to most of us (started before the season started even). The funny thing is that Minnesota fans criticized for not caring enough and just doing the minimum then going home to chill. NBA teams and sports in general often times force the "leadership" role on the best players even if they're ill-suited for it. At least he doesn't call himself a leader constantly like Kyrie who was another guy who struggled mightily in that role in two cities (so far).

I think it's more than time to move on so Cavs fans can always remember him more fondly because I'm honestly not sure he can withstand the inconsistency of these guards and the growth (or lack thereof) needed on a rebuilding team. Give him more off-nights and let him load manage his feelings.

Kevin is mad at himself he can't carry a team. Its quite emasculating and defeatist. So the Cavs dream of contending after Lebron left crashed last year. Now they need to tank and lose plenty to keep their pick for the rebuild. Which isn't what Kevin signed up for.

I think Kevin is upset because he doesn't feel like he's being given the fair shot to carry a team. Love saw one rookie after another bomb away in Minnesota so he's not interested in watching players grow but of doing everything you can to win RIGHT NOW. That means stomping out selfish play by benching the guards to curb bad habits and attacking mismatches at all cost in place of ball movement or scheme predicated on guard play. In his head it's simple. To the rest of us it's a warped reality. Kevin isn't good enough and not at a premier position to help a team this team overachieve beyond their talent level.

Beilein is more concerned about developing the young guys and weeding out the roster and not appeasing to the emotions of a man who has checked out mentally. If Love wanted to he could easily shoot 17-20 times a game but he takes quarters off and at times entire games off. He’s taking less shots per game than he did when he played with LeBron and Kyrie.

Kevin love is acting like a straight up punk. He's been in the league long enough to know how things work and instead of being a leader and using the challenge of playing with a young team and working his way back to a legit number 1 he whines and complains and places the blame elsewhere.

I will never understand Kev's approach to this thing. People can say he wants to be the initiator of the offense on more possessions, but he looked most games like he was completely mentally checked out. Of course these young guys are going to start looking at other methods when they're inexperienced and the guy they should be able to lean on is sulking.

Tonight, Love is making a concerted effort to be a good teammate. He's hustling his ass off. He is getting in good position. As a result, he's having a great night and the team has been feeding off of him. That doesn't mean the young guys have been flawless. It doesn't mean they haven't missed him a few times.

You don't have a mental breakdown when that happens. You let them know what they did wrong and work harder to get the ball the next time.

This isn't rocket science. Love just wanted out. He was making no effort to make this work or increase his trade value with his on-court play. He was playing the game like a guy who was mentally checked out. I won't blame that on Sexton or Garland or anyone except Kev, and I will always love and appreciate the guy.

If he continues playing the way he did tonight, someone would be willing to take on that contract. See the forest for the trees, Kev.

K Love put a floor show on tonight for other teams, hoping they will pay for his services.

Instead of draft picks which I don’t trust this organization can ever get right, why not trade Love for some established young guys like a Zach Collins or similar young player with upside rather than picks we seem to get wrong every year

Im cool with cam Johnson plus some

He put on a happy face and decided to show he can be really good when he wants.

Meanwhile, Sexton was everything Loves been bitching about and really cost them down the stretch.

Game couldnt have went better for Love lol.

I'm not. Cam Johnson is older then Windler and has had all kinds of injuries. If we take a rookie deal wing from the Suns it should be Mikal Bridges.
Mikal was my pick over Sexton that year.

A Mikal, Tyler Johnson, Frank the Tank (now injured) deal would work financially. Would probably need to place to move one of the bench guards like Delly or Knight.

I had zero interest in Bridges last year because he can't really create for himself. But pair him with Garland as the SG and you have the perfect compliment. He's long, has defensive upside and gives Sexton someone to kick it out to who's reliable.
