In the last ever game between the Indians and the Reds the Tribe will have a bullpen game, starting Sam Hentges. Opposing batters are hitting .314/.911 against Hentges when he starts and .415/1.159 the second time they face him. I don't know if he will get to face the Reds batting order twice even if he shuts them down the first time through.
Joey Votto is 7-for-11 against the Tribe this year so it will be interesting to see if Hentges can get him out in a lefty-lefty matchup.
The Reds are 61-51 and on a roll, having won 10 of 12. They're 3-2 against the Tribe.
The Indians have been swinging the bat well lately, with 36 hits in the last three games. However, they will have a tough nut to crack tonight in Luis Castillo, 6-10, 4.09. Castillo has been pitching at very high level for over two months. Since June 1 he has a 1.92 ERA. In his last start he held the Twins to one run in six innings. However, the Indians solved him for 5 hits and 4 runs in 4 innings in his only start against them in early May.
So the Indians will be facing a red hot team with a red hot starting pitcher as they attempt to even the series and force a draw in the last Battle of Ohio between the Reds and Indians.
I'll be looking to see if Hentges has shown any improvement since going down to Columbus. Since returning last week he's pitched two scoreless innings in relief. I'd also like to see the Indians tighten up the defense which has been pretty shaky lately.
