I have read that the producers/writers/directors told them that they are the same characters. Kingpin supposedly lost a lot of power post blip.
I believe that’s same characters in an acting sense. Everything I’ve seen says that the Netflix shows are no longer canon.

Like, I’m sure they’ll pick and choose bits and pieces that work, but it mostly didn’t happen as far as the MCU is concerned.

No like they told Vincent D'Onofrio that. They are the same character from Daredevil. I’ll try to find the story again.

That’s not how I interpreted those quotes

D'Onofrio has basically said he was playing the same character after the blip. Whether that's Feige's intention, I don't know. But at the least, the actor thinks it is.

“I think the Blip has happened, and I think his Kingdom took a bit of a hit, and he’s trying to get his city back. That’s how I played him, and I think that was the general idea."

Being fair, he mentions he has no explanation for the increased strength (Kingpin closer to Comic Kingpin than Netflix Kingpin). With Blade also being cast as a former Netflix alum, I think we might need to assume that all Non Marvel Studios shows are multiversal. They've totally cancelled Agents of SHIELD with Laura Barton being Mockingbird.

It's the easiest explanation and would follow how they've treated the multiverse to this point

Yeah, I interpret that in strictly the acting sense when they talk about character, and I think D’Onofrio is just creating a back story for him. I’m sure they’ll use some aspects from the shows and ignore others at their convenience.

Like, I doubt he knows Daredevil’s identity in the MCU, and they probably ignore most of the major events of the series.

Here’s a quote I saw:
“I think from my point of view, like a lot of the Avengers stuff, a lot of the MCU stuff, they tried to connect as many dots to the original canon as they can, and some dots are just not possible to connect. And that’s what we’ve done with connecting to Daredevil and vice versa. There’s some dots [that] are connected. Like in the Hawkeye show, Fisk is obviously physically stronger and can take more physical abuse.”

Because of NWH, I think the easiest assumption is just that Netflix is part of the multiverse, just as the old Spider-Man movies are. The Fox movies will end up the same way before it's all said and done.

Honestly, it's the easiest way for Marvel to do it, and there's precedent now.

Blade the Series was on Spike TV, not Netflix. Not sure why you identify Blade with Netflix.

I’m not convinced that Kingpin is actually dead.
Agree

I am pretty sure that he didn't mean they are literally the same character, as in this is the character from the Netflix series. I think he meant that this is functionally the same character. He's adapted from the same source material, played by the same actor, and with the same backstory and motivation. He doesn't remember the events of the Daredevil series, though, because that didn't happen in the MCU and Daredevil, as far as we know, isn't even a thing yet. We know that Matt Murdock exists and that he has superpowers, but we haven't heard a single thing about Daredevil and my guess is that he'll be officially introduced in the Echo series, at which point a Daredevil series will probably be announced.

Honestly, they could use No Way Home as Murdock's motivation to become Daredevil. He sees this kid sacrificing his life to use his superpowers to help people and that inspires him to do the same.

Man I love Vincent D'onofrio as Kingpin. Guy is just terrifying. I saw Spiderman before I saw Hawkeye so I was pumped to see Charlie Cox back as Daredevil.

I do have to talk about Spider-Man. I love Spider-Man. So naturally I loved this new one. This movie was elevated by the older movies, and yet somehow this movie has elevated those ones. I don't know how Marvel pulled it off.

Still the Sam Raimi Spider-Man 1 and 2 are just GOAT movies. Tobey is great, that Danny Elfman score is phenomenal. Loved hearing it a bit in the new movie. And Doc Ock and Green Goblin are top 10 Marvel villains.

1. Thanos
2. Loki?
3. Killmonger
4. Green Goblin
5. Kingpin
6. Doc Ock
7. Kilgrave
8. Zemo
9. Ego
10. Vulture

I think it elevated the older movies because it allowed closure for those characters/series that both seemed to abruptly end. We never saw Tobey handle Harry's death or reunite with MJ. Nor did we see Andrew live with what happened to Gwen. We moreless either got some sort of redemption or saw that the character was doing OK.

Bad guy wise, both franchise flirted with the idea of either the Sinister 6 or a larger villain ensemble (or even rumored)...we got it. That's in addition to clearing the names of the villains who were killed. None of them were bad men, just blinded chemically/ technologically.

Think Hela should be on that list if you're solely sourcing from MCU + pre-MCU movies

I think Goblin is higher than Killmonger and I think there is an argument for him being the top Marvel villain.

Defoe's performance is utterly amazing.

Unlike most of the others, Goblin represents a true villain.

NO redeeming qualities. None. Like the Joker he is simply insane.

Whereas Loki is more of an anti-hero, and Thanos is misguided, and Killmonger seeks to avenge an old injustice, Goblin simply revels in killing, maiming, destroying and exercising power.

He is above morality, or reason, or motivation. He is a true Übermensch who exists only to exercise his power. He is Nietzsche's beau ideal.

The eternals is a flaming pile of shit. Marvel brought out their C team to make that movie and it shows.
