This show did a lot of things right, but one thing that definitely did not work was the SWORD Director Hayward character.

Firstly, the MCU has already had too many antagonistic military/government characters in its history, there’s no need to add another one.

Secondly, it was really weird how he seemed fairly normal in his first appearance, and then slowly devolved into being cartoonishly evil, that by the finale he thought it was a good idea to just start open firing at children.

The one-dimensionality of his character is bad enough, but then they didn’t even really do anything with him!

Honestly, I was really hoping that they’d pull that move from the Avengers cartoon and reveal that this guy was secretly Ultron wearing a human suit the whole time.

By the end that was the only thing that would have redeemed this waste of a character.

Initially I was excited when we were about to meet the director of SWORD but then this guy came on screen. From the get go I just assumed he wouldn't last past the season, be it removed from the position or death. Especially when they went as far to designate him as acting director only. Definitely felt like a placeholder just to pave the way for Abigail Brand to eventually take over in Secret Wars or Captain Marvel 2. But at least he helped get Vision a real body again for future appearances!

How can you possibly do a second season? This is probably as self-contained a story as it gets. A second season would really be a completely different show with a completely different premise.

Also I think a lot of people got carried away with theories and speculation. I liked the finale because it resonated well with the story they were telling, but I was simultaneously a little let down that there wasn’t something more or a real last-minute surprise.

Yeah, the entire purpose of this show is to set up the next phase of the MCU. It's 'sequel' will be in the coming movies, like Dr Strange 2.

Someone mentioned that this was a Scarlet Witch origin story, it was actually origin stories for Scarlet Witch, White Vision, and Photon. Besides also furthering a Multi-verse story line, it also adds the possibility of Secret Invasion story line over a multi-movie/phase like the Infinity War did.

Is anyone else just not excited for Falcon Winter Soldier?

I think it's going to be really good. And quite a deep dive into race and the concept of the all American hero

Yeah not really. They’re kind of lame and weak characters. I’ll still watch it. If done right it could finally give them some credibility though.

The Captain America franchise was easily the best trilogy of the standalone movies, so as long as the same creative team is in place it should be good.

Hot take incoming...

Cap is, by far and away, my least favorite. I understand I’m very, very wrong, but just cannot get into him as a super hero without feeling overwhelmingly lame.

See, I used to feel the same way (and kind-of still do) about Cap, but Chris Evans did a really great job portraying the complexities and nuances of his character, so he didn’t come across as such a boring goody-goody.

I'm really looking forward to Falcon and Winter Soldier because neither guy has gotten a ton of screen time throughout the movies, similar to Wanda and Vision.

We're supposedly going to get some background on Sam, and with Baron Zemo as the villain and US Agent being in the show. I am very excited.

This was my take coming into the MCU.

I've been pleasantly surprised with how good of a character they've turned him into.

They also turned Thor from the most boring Avenger into somehow the most consistently entertaining. And they made Iron Man into their biggest star.

Marvel definitely seems to know what they're doing.

I disagree. Whenever we get X-Men into the MCU, I think it's obvious it is going to be will all-new castings.

The last two X-Men movies stunk, so there's no need to shoehorn in these actors and characters that nobody really cares about right now. Sure they could go that route, but I see no reason for them to do so.

Evan Peters was playing Ralph Bohner, but that's the end of the story there as far as I'm concerned. It was cool to see him "playing Quicksilver" in the MCU, but I don't believe it was a set up for anything more than what we've already gotten.
Which two are you counting as the last two Xmen movies? Some include Deadpool movies in there....What about "Logan"? If we are talking Phoenix -- sure. I probably liked Apocalypse better than you, if that is the other.

Phoenix and Apocalypse were the last two X-Men movies. Apocalypse was "meh" at best IMO and Phoenix was just bad. Disappointing after how good First Class and Days of Future Past were.
