Not sure how I feel about the Black Widow movie. It just feels weird with it placed after all the movies were released instead of where it fit chronologically. Were there issues that pushed it back over and over again?

It was always shoehorned in as a cash in on the character. So it was never going to be a great film in regards to telling a story relevant to the MCU. It was only delayed a year by the pandemic

Pretty sure i read principal filming was done in 2019, so it’s always been slated as a beginning of phase 4 film, but did get pushed back over a year from its original intended Spring/Summer 2020 date.

Black Widow was a good stand alone movie. They ruined Taskmaster though. Have to place that character with Juggernaut for villains you can never use again.

Totally agree on taskmaster. Such a waste of a great villain

But they did use Juggernaut again and it was awesome the second time.

Also, the gall of Disney charging thirty bucks on Disney+ to watch this movie means I'm absolutely pirating it. If they had charged a reasonable amount like ten dollars, I would have just rented it.
Most people have families, I think that’s where they are coming up with the $30 price tag, basically covers a family of 3 at the theatre.

Yea it being out of order really feel weird. It explained Black Widows character really well and how a non-superhuman can be a superhero. It also was a good enough movie they could have made a sequel but that doesn't seem to be in the cards now.

Or just go hit a matinee for $8

I enjoyed Black Widow, but it wasn’t the best Marvel movie. I really think they should have made it a Disney+ series instead of a movie. It would developed the peripheral characters better. 2 and a quarter hours is not enough time to flesh out the new characters.

With that being said, Florence Pugh’s portrayal of Yelena was the highlight of the movie. Honestly, the movie felt like it was more an origin story for the new Black Widow then a last goodbye to the old Black Widow. I’m really looking forward to Yelena’s continued growth in the future. Just a really fun character.

I also enjoyed David Harbour’s Red Guardian. I would have like to see some growth/redemption from the character, but the acting was spot on. Harbour is turning into one of those very under-rated actors.

Both the Alexei and Melina characters could have used the extra screen time of a series to redeem both characters in a more realistic manner, more so for Melina.
