I'm halfway through Black Widow now and enjoying it. The humor has mostly fallen flat, though, which is a stark contrast to most other Marvel flicks. I feel like the jokes normally land, but some of the lines in this one are just brutal. You've got a bunch of great actors doing their best to lift some shit material and generally succeeding. Feels like this is going to be a overall meh movie, though.

The first five minutes or so were fantastic.

I thought they did well with the movie. They developed the characters well in a short time frame, and had great casting.

But, the whole time I'm like "Cool, they did a good job... but why should I care about this movie? She's dead." It felt like they missed the timing--even with it supposed to come out in February of 2020, I felt like that was too late.

Finished it. I wasn't bored while watching it, but the humor largely fell flat, the action set-pieces felt way too over the top for what should have been a more grounded film (given that very few of the characters have any powers), and they really fucked up with Taskmaster. What should have been a cool villain that they could have brought back in future films or shows (like Thunderbolts!) was reduced to a boring plot device.

Great cast, and I think that's mostly why the movie wasn't complete trash. Although holy shit did I hate Ray Winstone as the Russian baddie. He just does not look remotely Russian. He looks like a British crime boss to the point that it's fucking distracting.

To me, this was worse than Captain Marvel. And I went into this one expecting to like it a hell of a lot more than Captain Marvel. The trailers for this had me pumped. They were awesome.

If you take David Harbour out of the movie, it probably flops.

I think he, and the Red Guardian character, saved it.

Finale thoughts.

Everybody is looking for different things so I understand and respect anyone who doesnt love the Finale but for me, this episode was everything I was hoping for and more.

Overall, I liked FATWS. And I really liked/loved Wandavision. But for my particular tastes, Loki was about 5X better than FATWS and 2-3X better than Wandavision. And that is not a knock on either of the other two shows.

Don’t think I can say anything more than that or anything specific about the episode for the next 24-48 hours without spoilers for those who will be watching Wednesday and Thursday.

Cannot believe it was Howard the Duck and Cosmo all along. Talk about bread crumbs!

I thought it was a really smart way to introduce Kang to the MCU viewers. Give you a taste, explain who he is, then poof--gone. Now you're in a state of fear and mystery waiting for the big bad to show up.

Less than thrilled with finale.. felt they left too much on the table.. but far better than winter soldier, at least as good or better than Wanda

I think they're doing a slow play again. I think this phase is more of a mini phase in theaters, but features alot of these shows.

There is clearly two storylines being worked in Kang & Thunderbolts. Do they intertwine and maybe become a mashed up Secret Wars? Probably not IMO. I think the lesser characters & maybe Young Avengers tackle the Thunderbolts.

I think the tease of Kang was alot better than the purple monster we got after Avengers (The butchered Thanos). The next handful of movies are t'd up to deal with Kang. Hell maybe that's the reason the Eternals get involved.

All while killing time to develop an Xmen/Fantastic Four Universe.

I'm just pumped they confirmed a second season. That's huge. It means more Hiddleston as Loki and we've still got the potential for an Owen Wilson to say wow / reunite with his jet ski.
Might he meet Tour de France winner Loki?

I'm hoping the mobius variants can all be distinguished by their love of different transport. There could be a quad bike mobius and a ski-doo one

So, this show kinda takes the fun out of the Infinity Saga, right? If Thanos ever won, the TVA would just prune him, so no way the Avengers could lose.

Well...yes and no.

I think it means that any time he did win, like basically every time if we believe Dr Strange, he would likely get pruned because it wasn't a part of the "sacred timeline" at that time. Now it's just one of...65?

I'm more curious why Kang would want the Avengers to win? Kang is gonna be so wild and the next few movies are going to be amazing. Basically, anything to do with Marvel is now officially canon.
