Mayo Headed to USC

O.J. Mayo, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2007, told the USC coaching staff and players last week that he would commit to the Trojans, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

I hate to say it, but he'd be pretty dumb to not go pro if he's projected to be the #1 pick. His stock would have no where to go but down. It makes me sad, b/c OSU is not going to win the national title next year (with virtually a whole new squad), and he'll be gone after that.

And he will not bust. He's the next Bill Russell! As we speak, George is working on a master plan for Ferry to get us Oden to be James' sidekick.

What people seem to forget was that Mayo wasn't interested in going to a school that was already good, he wanted to goto a no name team and make them a winner.

His recruiting list had USC, Florida AM and Kansas St on it. Why would he goto Ohio State? He isnt from Ohio and they just recruited the PG of last years class. Oden won't be there anyway..

He will goto USC, be in great weather and be the man right away and will leave after one year regardless of how the team does. Win win.

CINCINNATI -- Bill Walker, one of the nation's top high school basketball players, won't be allowed to play this year because he has used up his eligibility.

Walker, a 6-foot-6 forward who combined with O.J. Mayo to lead North College Hill to consecutive state championships, has completed his eight semesters of eligibility, the Ohio High School Athletic Association said Monday.

Walker played a year as a ninth-grader at Rose Hill Christian in Ashland, Ky., before enrolling at North College Hill as an eighth-grader in February 2003, the association said.

Walker was widely considered second only to Mayo among the nation's incoming seniors. Walker averaged 21.7 points and 10.1 rebounds last season, highlighted by a 50-point, 25-rebound performance in a 100-68 victory over Covington (Ky.) Holmes. North College Hill (26-1) lost only to Virginia-based perennial power Oak Hill Academy.

North College Hill High School officials have said they believed Walker had four full seasons of eligibility when he enrolled.

I dont get it...how do you play a year in HS, then go back to either grade?

And if it was in kentucky, what's the big deal? OJ played TWO years of HS ball in Kentucky before coming to Ohio.
