As the trade season in the nba nears, what are the chances are roster is significantly improved? I'd rather have Danny Ferry make a blockbuster deal then let's say Damon Jones for Ruben Bumje - Bumje. This roster needs a lot of work in order to us to get back to the finals. You thoughts...

agreed we need to a big deal. but even if its not blockbuster I really need to see something done. I think we need a real point guard asap. Ferry needs to make a move, anything just make a move. We could also get a second round pick back for at least ira newble since he is gone anyways next season.

Chances = 0%

We will make no trades other than something possibly insignificant.

If we couldn't sell anyone on our garbage in the off season just coming off a Finals appearance than I have no reason to believe that we can now, after practically all the players we would like to trade have performed even more poorly this season or not even played at all.

Corporate Knowledge !

I see 0 percent chance of a "blockbuster". We woudl be negligent not to trade Ira and Shannon for something before we lose the value entirely, but I don't know that we could add a componenet and get something we need (like a point guard or a physical big) in return. In my dreams we manage to finally land Bibby and we are off to the finals again.

How can we have a blockbuster trade when we only have 1 attractive asset? And that 1 asset can't even be traded.

Wait, I think the collective opinion of the sports media and fans would agree that the Cavs need to make a deal..However, we have absolutely no tradable assets. Are we going to be stuck with the same C-/D+ players for the next season and maybe more? I'm all about continuity, but at the same time, dropping Larry hughes off at his house before game-time doesn't sound like a bad idea... When is the last time Danny Ferry watched a full cavs game, because anyone who knows basketball, knows that Lebron needs help.

I agree a deal needs to be made to get rid of some of our headaches. The problem is, no one wants our lousy players causing headaches with bad contracts, except maybe the Knicks. Here's a trade I propose that could conceivably help both teams, but basically boils down to us trading our bad contracts for a couple of theirs...

To NY:
Larry Hughes and Damon Jones

To CLE:
Quentin Richardson and Malik Rose

This trade might improve us for two reasons. First, Richardson can at least shoot from outside. That alone would make him an improvement over Larry. His contract runs just as long but for much less money. Rose has a ridiculous contract, but it expires one year sooner than Larry and the same as Damon, so we'd at least get some cap relief. He also could be valuable next season as an ending contract.

ugh... Your taking the primary ball handler (but a guy who may be done) and the only player outside of Gibson who can make a shot for a guy WHO IS DONE and a guy who wouldn't get time ahead of Dwayne Jones.

Q Rich isn't done.....

Is he?

Malik is though. But if he comes off the books sooner that's good. I'm not opposed to that deal. Would make a nice Plan B.

Quentin is horrible. Looks like Nash made big $$$ for him. But give me Malik. A veteran and was a member of the championship team Spurs back then. He's still got good rebounding numbers and that mid-range game.

He might be on the court but he is done. His back is shot and because of that his stroke is gone too.

I haven't heard much about his injuries... but last season he averaged 13ppg and hit 37% of his 3pt shots.

This season his shooting percentages are down but he's still playing 30 mpg. Still a better option than Hughes, IMO, especially if we pick up a PG elsewhere.

Richardson has an uninsured contract because of his history of back trouble so teams are staying away from him because of that.

I understand trying to trade certain players but I don't really see this Knicks trade improving the Cavs. It's kind of one of those moves just to make a move.
