Generally, when a virus mutates it becomes less deadly because if the virus kills the host, the host can not replicate and pass on the virus. However the initial reports are the mutation has become more contagious but not more or less deadly. This would be unfortunate.

I wouldn’t spike the football on “deaths are trending down” just yet. Will have to see how things look in 2-3 weeks. And even if you survive, you can come away with serious long term health problems.

Wear masks. Be leaders. Set a good example. And, this should go without saying, trust the medical experts and not bro science or gut feel.

Yes, still not conclusive, but there seems to be something to be said that deaths fell a lot more than cases ever fell.

I'm certainly not going to stop wearing masks or social distancing, but I am really, really hoping the trend of declining deaths continues.

Case numbers can be deceiving right now compared to the first spike because we really lacked testing and is one of the reasons why we never got it under control.

Places are definitely spiking but the true number of infections is closer to the new cases we are seeing than what we were seeing initially 2 or 3 months ago. Even though we are probably far off from the true numbers in most places.

I read any article today that said to take the new cases multiple it by the positivity rate then multiple that by 100 to get the more true number of infections. Example 500 cases at .05 positive tests is about 2500 true infections per day.

That formula if true shows the importance of getting the testing ramped up to proper levels. 1% positive rate and you are getting most of the infections. 2% you are picking up about half. 5% you are picking up only about a fifth.

I want to hear more from the Italian doctors that claimed Rona was basically clinically non-existant based on the viral load they were seeing in newer cases. I'd love to see if we're getting similar weakenings and mutations here.
Some recent articles about tracking the mutations, the first references the second (not yet peer reviewed):

For whatever it is worth , Dr. Doug Gottlieb (former head of FDA) was making the rounds on some of the news channels.

Said that the demographic of the cases is younger and better treatments will help curb deaths raw death counts , however , even with those variables improving that we will be back over 1,000 deaths a day in the next week or two . There is just simply too many cases and hospitalizations that the raw death numbers will not go up from here . So I don’t know if we will get to the daily death when the northeast got crushed , but certainly more than recently.

Remember when contact tracing was going to be anonymous and not used to publicly track your movement and who you associate with?
Good luck enforcing that mess! Don't ask if they went to a protest, but did ya go to a house party? Riiiiight.

Everyone be safe this weekend. If you aren’t comfortable going to an event then don’t. If someone is not properly distancing then tell them to give you space. And wear a mask and set a good example.

We are basically on our own until we have a leadership change. Listen to the doctors until then.
Oh stop it with the Trump trashing. If people really need one person to set the example for the nation, then this is a problem that’s been around for more than 3.5 years.

Last night, our CDC released antibody results from Florida, Utah, and Missouri that showed the virus has infected 11-24 times more people than we knew. Which obviously drops the mortality rate considerably. These results were from April, and they just now released them. Why?

We all know why -- the election. Ironically, they news dumped these the same day the WH holds a press conference applauding the stupid and immoral lockdowns and backing the pausing of reopening, all the while bragging again about ventilators like it's March 10th.

And now you know why I've been saying our data here in the U.S. is the worst in the free world. Every other free nation has had this stuff for months, which is why they're reopening ahead of us.

And I promise our CDC is sitting on much more.

It is political malpractice beyond belief the Trump campaign/WH is not pushing for more data from CDC like yesterday’s delayed antibody results. If they, or someone else in the GOP with a megaphone, doesn’t step forward soon and bring this data to the public square, the Left will succeed in maintaining lockdown the rest of the year.

Then Biden will win and then benefit from the biggest economic boom since the baby boom. Which will give his running mate, who will probably be really running the country along with the Deep State, the wind at their backs for 2024.

Never underestimate what the left will do to get back in power. They’ll stop at nothing and that includes people dying. Have you heard a single Democrat denounce the rioting and looting? Has any Dem come out against defund the Police? They want as many deaths from Covid and as much chaos In the streets as possible because they think it hurts Trump. Prove be wrong.

I’m also very surprised that not more people on this board condemn the violence we’re seeing. All the burning and looting. Cities being destroyed
