Benson is having a statistical breakout, but the red flag is his BABIP. Is it too a reflection of his swing/approach change or just some luck sprinkled in? There's no improvement in the SwStr% and as a result, the K% is still very high.
On a normalized BABIP, his slash line would be 200 BA and 350 OBP. Would anyone be excited about that?
I'm intrigued by his season, but the above data has me leaning to sell high on him in a trade, even though it's a huge risk to look really bad if he turns into Judge 2.0. But if some other team values him enough, I'd consider it. Most prudent action is to hold onto him, though I'm not sure he's worthy of a 40 spot.
That's the question, if they don't intend to roster him, it makes more sense to trade him, as someone will take a chance on him in Rule 5
