Rough night to start in Lynchburg

Lenny Torres and Jacob Forrester chased out before the end of the 1st inning. Torres line ( i think this incorrect and 3 runs at least are unearned)

Torres 0.2IP 4H 6R/ER 1BB 0K 1WP 1HBP
Forrester 0.0 3H 4R/ER 1BB 0K 2HR

Down 10-1 in the 2nd.

Meanwhile in Akron - Steven Kwan with a leadoff HR his 7th on the year - Akron up 1-0

I have to say the Akron team has been such an amazing/fun follow this year at the plate. I envy anyone who can check them out in person. 4-6 guys every night that are major prospects/legit MLer types.

Jose Tena with his 14th homer and 2BB tonight. Both him and Kwan are forcing their way onto the 40 man. Or some ones.

That is the hardest HR to hit... I think he can get way more HRs if he starts adding the pull power to his game. He focuses on the opposite way a lot more than most young guys do when it comes down to it...
I always thought you can hit for a much better average if you go oppo consistently. One, you can wait longer to start your swing which makes it more likely to make solid contact. Two, if they shift there's a better chance of getting a hit if it's a ground ball.

The downside is because you're contacting the ball earlier in the swing path you have less bat speed on contact. But, if you are really strong it doesn't matter because you still have enough bat speed to get the ball over the fence even going the other way. Franmil and Bradley are great examples. They don't need to pull the ball to hit it out.

So if you have big time power you can get away with going oppo and have the best of both worlds - a high barrel rate and home run power. So I think Jones should just keep going the other way. Same for Zimmer and Bobby Bradley - no need for those guys to try and pull outside pitches.
