AAA: 1st game: Is over but the Clippers tack on one more run. Andres Gimenez scores Nolan Jones with a single. Columbus loses 10-3 to Indianapolis.

@MadThinker88 @BimboColesHair

Are guys like Alex Call and Trenton Brooks just hot or did they find something to help out that will allow them to sustain the numbers they have put up this season? I almost feel like Call is forcing his way to AAA since if he keeps up his numbers, not sure how you keep him at AA...

Man! With Akron having the less talented pitching staff of all the affiliates according to Bimbo, is it possible Burns gets promoted soon? He's a polished college SP prospect and it's showing at the lower levels. Would it be a good idea to see what his current limits are?

LC has some injury issues with their rotation and he has been a little spotty so far. A promotion in the 2nd half seems doable and likely if he is excelling. Great at limiting the walks, if he can turn that into straight up domination (like tonight) he definitely gets promoted.

More (FINAL) Updates:

Low A: Hillcats lose 2-0 but manage 6 hits all singles - 2 from Cody Farhat who also stole his 4th base. Overall solid pitching performances lead by starter Jordan Jones (RD 16 in 2019) 5.2 IP 6H 1ER/1R 1BB 5K

High A: LC win 8-4, but is was 8-0 until Kevin Kelly struggled in the 9th.
Very nice performance from Tanner Burns - 6.0IP 4H 0R/0ER 0BB 6K 68 pitches 50 strikes.
Brayan Rocchio with a solo HR, his 3rd of the year.
Will Brennan goes 2-5 with 3RBIs and hits his 11th 2B of the year. He continues having a very strong year as an 8th round draft pick in 2019.

AA: 1st game: Is over - Akron loses 8-2. Alex Call does all the damage with 2 solo HRs, his 2nd and 3rd on the year

2nd game. Akron gets some payback winning 6-0. Oscar Gonzalez with ANOTHER HR - his 7th in 24 games!!! The most he has hit in a single season ever is 13 in 114 games in 2018. He also has 5BB on the year which is a pretty good clip for him
Minor league rule 5er Chris Roller with a 3 run shot, his 1st HR of the year.
Will Benson scores 2 runs on 1H and 1BB and throws in his 5th SB.
Overall decent offensive performances here.
Aaron Pinto - a 24 yr old 24th round draft pick in 2018 has rather quietly become a decent looking BP prospect. Doesn't look like a dominator with the stuff (in the stats anyway) but doesn't give up many hits.. @MadThinker88 - what ya think?

AAA: 1st game: Columbus loses 10-3. Bobby Bradley goes 3 for 3 with a run and a 2B. Nolan Jones drove him in on a groundout and later scored on a Andres Gimenez single in the 7th. Columbus loses 10-3 to Indianapolis.

2nd Game. Columbus loses again 5-2. Though they racked up 8 hits their 2 runs come on solo HRs from Bobby Bradley(9) and Oscar Mercado(2). Oscar also adds a double and a single, his best game of the 2021 season so far. Robert Broom has a better/good outing 1IP 1H 0R 0BB 2K.

Pitching depth for the ML team is thin, as AAA has quite a mix of minor league FA and Indy ball guys, more than one being signed recently.

First off, thanks to Criznit for picking up the slack in this thread on Friday night.
It was great to get back & see games in person even if the product on the field left much to be desired at times..
Now if someone wanted to pick up the slack on Sunday afternoons, it would be appreciated.

Second, I plan to publish my own "eyewitness report" from the games I saw in Akron on 6/4/21. While I likely start on that tonight, it won't post until either Saturday or Sunday. I will want to review it in the light of a new day before posting..

Third, I must say I was highly disappointed in not seeing Tyler Freeman play during the 2nd game of the DH & its becoming a bit of a frustrating pattern where both he & Bo Naylor sit at the same time. I get it is not smart to have a catcher behind the dish for both games of a DH, but trying to sell me that Freeman needs rest after 2 straight rainouts/ days off leading up to last night goes nowhere. If its due to injury, I can understand that, but I have not heard anything of the sort. If anyone can shed light on it (@BimboColesHair) I would love to here the news.

Fourth, in catching up on the thread after getting home, I see a couple of questions were sent my way. I will try to answer them (before they are forgotten about). I will leave my Aaron Pinto comments for the yet to be posted eyewitness report.

As for the @sportscoach question about Trenton Brooks/ Alex Call/ and by extension Chris Roller, let me say this: they are ORG GUYS. That is not meant to insult them, only to quantify their status IMHO. I do not "see" them forcing an issue to get to AAA or the Majors, but they can be useful players to fill in gaps if necessary. It would be nice to see every player make it to the majors & be successful, but the fact is, most players (even achieving the AA level) will not make it to the majors. The fact that these guys have made it to AA is a testament to their talent, dedication & effort. I commend them for their achievements so far. However, I am skeptical that they will get much further (let alone succeed & thrive). I will happily eat crow if one (or more) prove me wrong, but if this was a betting line they are the underdogs and I would put what little money I have left on the favorite (against them).

Is Carson Tucker playing somewhere, or still in Arizona?

We have 2 (or more) rather exciting Outfielders yet to play affiliated baseball this year. In no particular order

1. Petey Halpin
2. Isaiah Greene - I think he may end up something special
3. Carson Tucker - yes I know he is a SS/2B but wouldn't be shocked to see him in CF

Saturday games are getting underway..

Low A Lynchburg leads 2-0 going into top of 2nd..
I will be keeping an eye out for updates on Jhonkensey Noel. He singled to LF in bottom of the 1st & was then replaced with a pinch runner (Angel Martinez)..

Edit:
AAA Columbus underway.... No score yet.

AA Akron underway.... Akron trails 1-0 (leadoff homer allowed by Juan Hillman)

High A Lake County...... No score yet (Dayton threatening)..

Edit #2:
Make that Akron trails 2-0. Back-to-back solo shots allowed by Hillman.

Lake County trails 1-0 going into bottom of the 1st..

The Duck game I watched a few weeks back, I watched Call make an incredible. back to the infield catch on a line drive over his head. He has excellent speed.
