MLB Lock-Out is Finally Freakin’ Over

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not taking sides on this because I'm not a fan of either, but salary and worth are poor comparisons. Apples to oranges IMO.

How much does the average player invest in the organization that he plays for? How much of the expenses is any given player responsible for? How much risk did any player take on investing in a franchise? The answer is 0 therefore they should have no say in the matter.

If you can show me the numbers that the profit sharing is being taken advantage of then I fully support putting an end to that BS. Those dollars should be required to be reinvested, not pocketed. I also think that these ridiculous player contracts need to be curbed. There are issues on both sides and while "for our fans" roles off of each party's tongues they continue to display that they only care about how many millions they can make.

Edited to say that I did a little research on Van Gundy and Vietti and I'm not surprised at their take.

I really think it comes down to loyalty. The owners have to be loyal to the fan based on the nature of the relationship. The owner's constantly try to win the fans over sometimes with relationships that last several decades. Most, but not all, players leave a team a tear their heart out for extra money. The nature of the relationship with shorter careers than owners and the fact the chase dollars or winning teams means they show no loyalty to the fans.

I am not saying the owners are really more loyal, just saying the nature of the owner's relationship makes the fans feel owner's are more loyal.

Fair points, but if they're not using the profit sharing for its intended purpose then it would be difficult to argue "fan loyalty".

Loyalty or "stuck with", and I was never arguing that the "loyalty" is earned, its just a different relationship, and i am saying the length of the relationship matters. Maybe batters wife syndrome? or Stockholm Syndrome? lol

Just pointing out the nature of the relationship is different. Something Stan never ever thought about.

Oh I agree that the relationship is very different. It's like eating sour grapes. You're like "these grapes taste like shit, but man am I f'n hungry". lol

Your just mad because the Guardians owner's suck, some owners dont suck, i mean ours does, but not all owners.

The Guardians owner is actually a pretty good owner since he allows baseball people to run the team. His only problem is, he gives these guys an Aldi's food budget and they have to make due with it and honestly they have... in the last decade, only what, one team has more overall wins?

So you are saying he is a great guy if you can look past the fact he is a slum lord?

Outside of that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?

Or better yet. Bill Cosby was a great guy, did allot for kids, furthering of perception toward African Americans, helped many young black actors.....really did allot of good if you just look past the fact he raped 50-100 women. But outside of that, solid guy.

Average MLB salary is $4.17 Mil, BTW.
Median is a more useful number for salaries as it represents a true mid-point and not exaggerated by a handful of outlier salaries.

Dolan appears to be a fantastic business man, and runs the team he owns in that manner excellently.

Will be a good day for all the fans "who don't get it" when he sells the team. Either that or win it all and come home the World Champs.. Middle ground is pretty non-existent these days.. Got to at least make it to the World Series (as unfair as that may be) for Mary Sue Strongsville or Barry Beachwood to change their minds.

Even when they did make it to the world series pretty recently, Adam Akron didnt change his mind and they still had attendance issues.

I don't want to argue this point too much, I guess it depends on what you think constitutes improvement or acceptable numbers

In 2016 Attendance was 1,591,667 - we lost the series in 7 (Great game 7 - just didn't go our way)
In 2017 Attendance was 2,048,138 - an increase of 456,471 people... Or as a percentage: 28.67880027669104%

Feel free to check my math, I maybe off.

But we were still at the bottom of the league... we were 15th in team payroll and 21st in attendance. It doesn't take much sense that teams cannot keep that up overall...

Better than I remember, valid point, no need to argue. I didnt do the research, i just remember i thought it would be a bigger jump.

And to be fair, i havent been to an Indians game in 20 years, but i do go to a couple of spring training games every year if you think that counts.
