MLB off-season news: non lockout

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Upton hasn't been good, I am not willing to give him more than a minor league deal with a mid season opt out with incentives if he makes the club...
Agreee with this..

Upton, upon making the team (if).. .would be entitled to the Major League Minimum to be paid by the Guardians.. The Angels would be on the hook for every penny, thereafter..

So, there is a chance for us? It is a shame that pitchers were rushed back and cannot get a full spring in. Thought there would be at least an additional week where the aides got close to an agreement where pitchers would sense a deal was coming to ramp up on their own. Yet, with the deal being last minute (and good chance that it could have been delays a month+) and vote taking just hours (versus days to review), pitchers had to pack and travel versus get a last session in on their own with 30-50 pitches before heading to Arz/FL.

Guess you can never have enough pitching .... at least outside our division. Also seems a little light. Per mlb pipeline it’s 12th and 26th prospect. But, again rankings mean little but lots of negative thumbs down for Oak on BTV

IDK... Martinez is a pretty good pitcher.. fills up the strike zone.. he's a Guardians kinda-guy.. IDK anything about the other guy..

Their goal, since they can no longer afford all those guys, is to rebuild and try again with the new talent in a couple seasons... Its normal procedure when you are rebuilding to move expensive players, get rid of cap for talent and then refill holes in a season or two. They have done this a million times...

It feels like people are putting a very, very negative attitude towards rebuilding when it is almost necessary for small market teams to recycle and rebuild every so many years.

It was a bit light in return, so hopefully they look like geniuses later, but I thought they would get a little more than that for him...

That's exactly what's being said everywhere.. The pitcher coming to the A's, Martinez.. is still, a pretty good pitcher..

Yankees extension offered to Aaron Judge is stated to be 7 years with an AAV of $ 30 MM.. sounds like a reasonable payday for Judge.. His representatives will be arguing his ARB III contract, so, he's still under team control for the 2022 season. Beginning in 2023.. he'll be an unrestricted FA..

Julio Rodriguez makes Mariners roster. Together with Torkelson (Detroit) this shows that perhaps with the new ruels teams are more likely to call up their stud prospects to start out the season in MLB. FWIW we don't have anyone at this level so I don't think comparisons should be made to Kwan, Arias, etc.

From the little I know of Julio he seems really special.

He is special.... about as good as any position playing prospect in baseball right now..

The inclusion of J-Rod to the Mariners OF gives them six guys for three spots.. The Mariners are in need of a starting pitcher.. seems like a good fit.. perhaps something will happen between now and the trading deadline..

Thats not completely abnormal... He respected Freddie as a player, but it doesnt mean they personally got along. I would be more surprised if candidly everyone got along in any organization. This team though didn't have any clubhouse issues, from what I saw, which meant Acuna still respected Freddie as a player, they just werent friends outside of work is all.
