MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL vs Ravens

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Browns have not won jack shit yet. We haven’t made the playoffs in almost two decades.

Comparing our situation to Rodgers and Green Bay is nonsensical. Tennessee may be a better team than Baltimore (it’s close, either way) but the thing about the Browns is we are an up and coming team, so inconsistent performances where we beat a great team one week, and lose a nailbiter the next shouldn’t be a sky is falling situation. You have the Browns about two steps ahead of where they really are. They are overperforming people’s expectations, especially at the beginning of the year, hence why there’s optimism.

And Baker playing well IS something important to take note of, because really until this week there were still plenty of people wondering whether we should pursue an extension or not.

Its A weird mindset to me.

The media and fans seem happier about a loss like this as opposed to a win like Houston.

Brown's media should be laying the heat to the DC.

But more than that, the team has the talent to win today. Berry should be facing real heat for why he didnt upgrade the defense at the deadline. If they make a Minkah Fitzpatrick type of move the Steelers made last year, suddenly a Superbowl run feels real.

But instead, everyone is sorta satisfied with a high scoring loss to the Ravens?

Yea I find it odd. The team is way more than Baker. The analysis and critique from the local media shouldn't begin and end with how he's playing.

I mean, I think we've all just kind of accepted by now that the defense is terrible and nothing is going to change that.

It's easy to say Berry should have upgraded at the deadline (and I do wish he did something), but you have to keep in mind where Baker and the Browns as a team were at that point. They were a borderline playoff team at best and Baker hadn't really started playing particularly well yet (Bengals game aside). Also, guys like Minkah aren't just dumped like that every year...

Not to say Berry gets a free pass, but I get it. He also did trade for Harrison earlier in the year, which was a nice boost until he got hurt.

James Conner sucks against every other team in the league, but he's good for 130 and 2 TDs against the Browns.

Yep. At least Ben is.... 2020 Ben, and not 2005 Ben. I expect some ref foolishness but the Browns could do far better than the Eagles (team I root for) did.

Some time removed from it....
I'm still mad that it was a winnable game because of the offense and that the defense sucked
but kicking Tennessee's ass ended up being the win the Browns really needed. I thought that was going to be a L.
The Ravens will not catch up to the Browns. A "false positive" 12-4 is possible.

The Cleveland media only cares about the easiest, most surface issue things to write about. And that starts with Baker.

Unless you're thinking about a hard-hitting MKC piece about Joe Woods and his defensive schemes. :alc: :chuckle:

I never crowned them shit.

Quit being a weird ass and tagging me when we're losing in a game like you're all pumped we're losing because it makes you "right".

I think it's perfectly clear now what this team is fully capable of.

I just think one of the worst things you can do on a forum is tell others how they choose to be a fan of their team. You did it in a very jerky fashion. Im not some lesser fan who gets less enjoyment because i have a different opinion and perspective than you. But thats the message you sent and the reason I tagged you.

But go on and sit on your high horse dude.

It’s been about a day since the game. As the day gets later, I’m getting more annoyed that we lost. I wasn’t mad last night, but its starting to get there. Players like Ward and Harrison are missed and it’s causing us games, we really need to reinvest in the secondary.

My jury on Joe Woods is still out (though getting closer to concluding he’s not the right guy for the job)… Don’t recall, was he a Stefanski-influenced hire? I believe Berry and Woods were hired on the same day.

Either way, talent on that side of the ball definitely needs upgrading and we were lacking two key defensive backs in Ward and Harrison. Having said that, I get flashbacks to past patterns of stubborn playcalling that doesn’t effectively mask weaknesses (very Wilkes-ian). Can’t help but feel a Chuck Pagano coordinating the same roster last night would not have given up close to 45.

Stefanski brought Woods in.

The only teams with more players on the IR are currently tanking. The defensive backs have a top five pick, two second rounders, and a third rounder all on the injured list.

I just can't get behind blaming the coaching staff. The scheme on both sides has been a contender.

So i agree with you that i wish they would have made a play at the trade deadline, but at the same time there was significant risk when the trade deadline came around. Going into the deadline the browns were 5-3 after just having an extremely shitty loss against the raiders (even if it was bad weather). If the team had fallen apart at that point you could very easily see the team end up at 7-9 (which would have been a 12-15 pick), versus right now the browns could end up with a 20-25 pick. If the Browns had made a huge play for a defensive player by trading a future first round pick, then chubb doesnt come back, and Baker continues to shit the bed. All of a sudden that becomes a huge cost.

And I saw a graphic last night that no Browns starter is 30 years old or more? Theoretically would mean there is improvement to be made.

So true. Ward and Harrison cant stay healthy, Greedy is always hurt. I'm ready to trade OBJ for the highest available pick and taking DE, LB, S and CB with our first 4 picks.
