Monitoring Russell Westbrook’s Clippers tenure…

Pusbrook forever ... was there ever a superstar who sucked so bad?

John Wall has fell off in a similar fashion. Both their games were built on speed and their explosiveness. Westbrook was a lot of drive and kick to make the offense run. His speed and explosiveness was what created the gravity for him to orchestrate the offense.

Guys like Westbrook and Wall really have a limited window before the 82 game NBA season really starts taking a toll on their body. Westbrook carried a huge load after Durant left OKC. He probably might have had something left in him if he didn't average 36 minutes, 80 games, and a triple double for 3 seasons with the Thunder

The New York Knickerbockers are the best team in NY & LA. Who saw that coming?

The weird thing about Russ’s decline is it’s the shooting that’s abandoned him. He still gets by or overpowers people almost at will and he’s a better passer than ever. But he’s totally lost his 12-18 foot jump shot. Most guys become better shooters with age, not Russ. If he was any kind of a threat from the midrange he’d still be great.

Why did they want him over Reggie Jackson?

I'm not sure the plan was for Westbrook to take over for Reggie Jackson. Jackson was traded away for Plumlee, who is now their starting center. They also got Hyland at the deadline. They also have a lot of guys that could handle the ball and run the point as a committee.

Apparently Paul George pushed for Westbrook. My guess is they will roll the dice with Westbrook and see if they figure a way to make it work. If they can't make it work, they will put the ball in PG and Kawhi's hands.

To be fair. I’ve watched 3 of those games and Russ hasn’t been the problem. His numbers in the first 3 games were very good. Much like the Lakers before the trade, the Clips have a youth problem. All those 30+ guys just can’t bring the energy necessary to win every night.

There's always someone open in the first three rows

Clips have won last two and Russ has been +9 and +12 in those games, respectively.

I remember how he and George had a good rapport in OKC.
