What if the Kings, for example, want to unload Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Kenny Thomas badly enough to include Ron Artest in a deal? What if Marbury's involvement in a three-way deal with the Kings and Cavs is enough to revive the long-rumored Mike Bibby-to-Cleveland talks and get Anderson Varejao out of Ohio?

I don't know if this works or not, but the trade rumors are working on Isiah.

The real question is this: Does Isiah have one more bad trade in him?

How about a three way which lands Bibby and David Lee in Cleveland in exchange for Hughes and expirings, and clears sends Starbucks to the Kings. Kings have enough contracts to move in Artest,Thomas and Bibby (28 million), Hughes and Artest would wind up in NYC, and expirings would wind up in Sactown. Probably would require a 1 pick and maybe a prospect guy from NY since they will have to clear roster.

So in Cleveland it is Hughes, Newble, Brown for Bibby and Lee, and Salmons.
We get a point guard and a power forward who is a rebounding machine.

In New York it is Starbury, Lee, Fred Jones and any one of Crawford, Rose, or Jeffries for Hughes, Artest, Thomas, and Brown
New York rids themselves of a cancer, and picks up a cancer who actually plays hard (that would be Ron Ron) a defensive all star in Hughes who can also play some point and actually has better shot selection than Starbucks. and a decent rebounder to rest Randolph.

And in Sactown it is Bibby, Artest, Salmons and Thomas for Starbucks, Jones, Rose/Crawford/Jeffries and Newble.

They get 7 million in expiring contracts, a star point guard who is likly to walk from a losing team, taking his 20 million dollar option with him next year, and a contributing big (like Rose) to fill in for thomas, but with one less year on his contract. Sactown saves 17 million dollars, even if Starbucks re-ups. But he becomes a tradeable asset next year as an expiring which could land them some decent pieces. I also think they would want a pick, which will be a sticking point. but I could see a second rounder from us, and NY, possibly a first rounder from NY.

David Lee would be an acceptable replacement for Anderson I suppose.

i don't see the Knicks wanting to move David Lee though.

Yea, I doubt Thomas moves Lee.

And I know your deal was just thrown together, but damn Sacramento is getting raped.

Interestingly, only one of the players they are moving played against detroit when Sac won and that would be artest. ..

I think they would move 17 million off the payroll in unproductive contracts, but the real issue is that if Beno is playing well, Starbucks looks less attractive.

As for David Lee, gotta ask where he gets his minutes from. Zach Randolph is performing well. If the Knicks pick up Thomas, he can play Lees minutes. We could as easily swing Justin Williams out of Sactown as his minutes are limited, but I went with lee as the better player.

This hastily constructed trade is based on the idea that Sactown is as tired of Artest as NYC is of Starbury, and that Bibby has asked for a trade. In this trade NYC actually gets the best personnel, but the players moved to NYC are not contributing to their current squad at the moment. Cleveland gets position players it needs, and Sactown gets temporary star power, saves some contract, and gets rid of the flotsam. I think Sactown gets a first rounder out of NYC, and maybe a second rounder out of us. Let the rebuilding season begin..
