Moves the Indians should make for the 2nd half

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not a fan of this guy by any stretch but his central hypothesis may have some merit.

Well, the 2015 season set the stage for the next wave. It introduced key players like Ramirez, Lindor, Bauer, etc. It allowed the team to see where they had answers and where they didn’t and it provided the core and blueprint for what would become the 2016 World Series run.

This year has also introduced some players who will hopefully be "key" to the next World Series run. McKenzie and Quantrill are obviously the first that come to mind, but it's possible that Logan Allen and Trevor Stephan could also end up being key contributors based on recent performances. And of course Emmanuel Clase, who is now over 20 consecutive scoreless innings now that he's learned to mix in a slider with the triple digits.

Amed Rosario has emerged as a .290 hitting shortstop (which he already was in 2019 with the Mets). The jury is still out on Bobby Bradley, but 12 HR's in 167 AB's has a nice ring to it.

Nick Sandlin had a 2.94 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 48 K's in 33.2 innings before getting hurt. And they finally acquired an every day centerfielder.

The Indians/Guardians are well on their way to transforming themselves from a Kluber/Bauer/Clevinger/CC/Lindor/Santana/Brantley/Cody Allen team to the next iteration. Whether next year they get back to 90+ wins is the question, but they have added some exciting young talent to the existing base of Bieber, Plesac, Civale, Reyes, and Josie.

Younger players can't teach one very important thing....experience.

What it takes to get thru the daily grind, how to properly go thru your daily routines...esp pitchers.

How to react to adversity, both yours and your team mates.

We see what happened with Lindor in NY, when he no longer had older players, like Brantley and Kipnis, to set him straight.

We miss having a Kluber or Tomlin around with so many young pitchers having such a difficult time adjusting.

Ask any football coach at the high school or college level...even the highest college level...about the value of senior leadership. Be prepared to hear a sermon.

You can't teach what you dont know.

Tell you what I’m failing to understand…

How @sportscoach with those 86” thighs was incapable of jumping in the pool and demonstrating a proper whip kick.

tf?

Well if ya want me to 100% honest I physically cannot move my legs in the proper motion without dislocating my knee and eventually tearing it up really bad. Breaststroke takes a different coordination than any other competitive stroke hence why you rarely see anyone who can place high in both breaststroke and butterfly since they have almost two different coordination types. I was a butterflier so my big things really made life a lot easier for me lol

On the non serious side, @Lee didnt your mom tell you in bed that you cannot always use power in the breaststroke? You gotta have finesse and technique... Having big legs is great for power not great for other things lol

Indians DFA Gianpaul Gonzalez (I was just getting to like this guy)

I think he's a safe bet to be back in the org real soon...lol.

People that don't believe in things like veteran presence and leadership will think its a big reach.

Also, people that don't believe that some veterans police the lockerroom.

I'm plus minus on it - however Lindor is at the point in his 7th season, that HE should be the veteran presence and leader

Lindor doesn’t have anyone to set HIM straight?

Man, do I have a lot of stories about him laying into Bauer, Clevinger, and Plesac…especially after the infamous Bauer in KC incident.

Frankie was a leader the moment he stepped into the MLB clubhouse. His presence is still missed a bit too.

The problem is how he finished 2020, that irked a lot of people...
