Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Myles is clearly spending a lot of time in the weight room and I wonder if he’s gotten stiff as a result. He’s been virtually invisible through 2 weeks. Is that what you expect from a DPOY candidate?

I'm not the type to look too much into a two game sample size for any player, especially one with the history of production that Garrett has. He had a bad game against Houston, but he was fine against the Chiefs.

If he plays like shit the entire season, I'll start to worry. It's been two games, though. Calm the fuck down. I swear Browns fans are constantly looking for reasons to turn on our players. It's embarrassing.

You'd be the first one to bitch at him for slacking off if he had a bit of body fat on him.

Dammed if he does, damned if he doesn't, eh? Maybe the issue isn't Myles.

Wait. Are folks really questioning Myles after 2 games now???

Someone posted the QB pressures of 3 of the best defensive linemen alive, and Myles is squarely between Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald. But Myles is playing like Jane??? Not that two offenses have gameplanned to neutralize him.

It always cracks me up when fans gripe over canned responses, or worse, refusals to talk to the media… but then they get some real answers (that weren’t over the top) and it’s pearl clutching by all parties involved.

A confident player calling it like he sees it doesn’t automatically mean that:

A. They aren’t taking care of their own business and improving themselves constantly.
B. Self aware in general
C. Setting themselves up for being the target of ‘bulletin board material’… which is the dumbest concern to me. Like his comments will somehow legitimately impact what occurs on the field.

It’s such a non story. His comments were totally in line, interesting as hell, and good natured. I bet he has a monster game this week against an inferior OL and a more favorable LT matchup.
It always cracks me up when all fans are lumped into a singular category

Why can we not criticize someone who is openly criticizing his teammates?

There are just as many fans who coddle our players and take any criticism as an attack.

The good news is it doesn't matter even slightly that I didn't like it. The only thing that matters is how the team took it. But in my experience most people don't respond positively to negative feedback. In fact it pretty much always results in them immediately getting defensive

Myles is one of my favorite Browns. It doesn't mean he is immune to criticism. I'm not turning on him.

I honestly don't care if people criticize Myles about the comments he made, and I didn't even mention it in either of my posts. What I was commenting on was another poster saying he "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane," which is an absolutely absurd accusation against a player who has been as good as Myles has been for us coming off of one bad game.

And again, if he sucks for most or all of the season, we can revisit. But going after him because he was bad against Houston and merely okay against the Chiefs is ridiculous.

Lol. No, not really. Myles is a freak physically. It’s why he’s held to such a high standard. Then again, he’s been taking about winning DPOY and breaking the all-time sacks record, so he’s set the bar really high for himself too.

People are over-reacting to what Garret said and the way he said it. The way he talked you know the whole thing was a subject that the whole DL had already been talking about and was in agreement over, part of Stefanski's whole accountability mantra. The way Garret talked about it nobody was blind-sided by his comments. The only people throwing anyone under the bus are the press and fans who say Garret was doing that to his team-mates.

My only problem was, dude... put on a fucking shirt. The whole bare chested thing is a little over the top.

Don’t say folks…. It just one person. Put a name on it. The rest of us (you included) are giving it more than a two game sample size.

Did you find it distracting?

Let’s give the Browns and individual players at least 6 games before we anoint or bury them.

He called his teammates out directly as well as the play-calling, presumably because he was frustrated with the team’s performance as well as his own.

Is this something that Stefanski and Woods are down with? Doubtful. I’d rein him in if I was them. But I’m not and I don’t know their culture.

I agree that people tend to call Browns players out faster than usual, but a player ripping his teammates in the media doesn’t seem like the organization they’re running.

Bet he has to run some windsprints and Michigan drills. Probably a three day instagram vanity post ban too.
