Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When it's all said and done, the plays he will make the rest of his career will make this an unfortunate footnote in a productive career. Hell, Ray Lewis murdered a guy and worked for both ESPN and Fox Sports. Mike Vick went to prison and still gets guest spots on Fox all the time. Myles put a huge roadblock in the way of this season being a great season for the Browns, but ten years from now we will remember it as a heat of the moment blip.
RayRay didn’t kill no mother fuckin lion, I mean guy.

Much like so much else in the era, the action was terrible enough.

Isolated, it would be a mere blip on the radar of what will otherwise be a dominant pro career.

What amplifies it, and makes it worse, are the legions of denialist, irrational side of the scandal which can't come to grips with just holding Myles accountable for his actions.

They have to make excuses, they have to victimize themselves, they can't just accept the truth of how wrong his action was in response to whatever Rudolph did.

It still amazes me that some people are more bothered and upset by a fight where no one was hurt on a football field vs actual violence in the United States where people are getting killed due to mass shootings. But to each his own I guess.....
“ he could have seriously hurt him”

The folks you can discuss your societal concerns with are in the politics forum. This is a football forum, where people discuss football. And in the context of football, taking off your helmet and swinging it at another dude's head is a no-no, and it's going to be a big topic in the football world.

Not sure why that should surprise anyone.

It might be a different story if Rudolph had been seriously injured, it impacted his career, etc.. But in terms of any lasting impact, this is kind of a big nothing. Down the road, Myles will be "great player/good guy who once lost his cool", as long as he doesn't do anything else like that, and maintains a high level of play.

Wonder what Jim Brown is thinking when shit like this happens knowing that he hit people with golf clubs and threw women off balconies and is still lionized.

Dude’s gotta be like “yo it was a different time kids.”

Hands down.

Rudolph had already ruined his career through shitty quarterback play before the incident ever happened.

How he has remained Teflon-coated in the #MeToo era amazes me. It shows that the national media really could not care less about Cleveland.

Jim embraced his behavior at the time, so good luck attacking him back then. He then became an advocate for a minority group and is forever associated with a popular American sport.

A lot, but not all, of the #metoo movement is composed of well known white women and given the current political climate...good luck to them if they were to take a chance going after a popular black man and failed at it. Is that a risk they’re willing to take? Do Amy Schumer and Alyssa Milano even know he is? Is he victimizing anyone today?

Nowadays, the easiest group to win a battle in the media against is rich baby boomer white men, for a few reasons:

a) the people fighting the battles are largely millennials and gen y who resent baby boomers

b) you’re always perceived as punching up rather than down at baby boomer white guys

c) there is often a case to be made that baby boomers did in some ways fuck millennials so the argument is usually pretty easy. And if you get stuck in the mud now there’s always just... “ok boomer”

Jim Brown is flat out not a target for Alyssa Milano and CNN. There is no victory to be won there.
