Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The sell for not speeding more than 10 over in residential isn’t to be safe, it’s to be respectful of residents with children and dogs.
I am too old to ever go very fast. 78 in a 65, never the fastest car, etc. I will to 45 in a 35 but catch me in a 25 and I am rocking 26.
Not finna walk up to someone’s front door and ring the door bell and hand them their dead dog. Miss me with that.

EDIT: now he wasn’t in a 25, but you do have to be careful if you are around houses. On the highway, there are just so many idiots that going 100 is a risk bc you are assuming that the other people get it and I promise you they don’t. If it’s empty out there, and your car is built for that, then it’s fun, but that should be a rare occasion when things fall in line.

Right if it's empty and things line up, it one thing. If Garrett is being ticketed this many times for doing triple digit speeds, it's more than likely that's how he is driving all the time. Getting too use to the power and speed of a fast car just gets most people into trouble.

He probably needs to find a nice plush ultra luxury car and realize the joys that comes with a relaxing drive home for a daily driver.

65 in a 45 is basically what everyone does in Charlotte.

65 in a 45 is what Garrett told cops when they arrived at the scene. I'm not sure how many people would tell cops their true speed after an accident since the last things a person wants after totalling their car is a ticket. Also with the amount of tickets he has, losing his license might have been in the back of his mind.

Also a 911 turbo s has all wheel drive and a bunch of electronic stability controls. It can't be optioned with a manual transmission. It was also a 2021 so I doubt the tires were that worn on them. Even in the rain, it would be hard for someone to lose control of it at 65mph.

dont newer cars have something like a black box that shows the speed at impact?

Probably but someone would have to have a reason to pull the data. One car accident with no one getting seriously injured and minimal property damage, they know who was at fault for the accident so I'm not sure why they would dive deeper.

There are cops that are car scene experts. The tire tracks and other factors show about how fast they were going. 65 is probably a guess but a pretty good guess.

Fact is, Myles was guilty of failure to control his vehicle, so the speed doesnt matter as much, same level ticket.

You are also correct there is no reason to further investigate over the quick initial assessment

The reports say that Myles Garrett admitted to going 65 and that was in the crash report. I'm not sure they would waste the time, money, and effort to get scene investigators out for a one car accident that no one got seriously injured to find the real speed.

I think they are suppose to just ask how fast you think you were going after an accident and usually don't press even if they think your lying. Cops tend to be in a different mode (alot nicer) after an accident than when they are giving out tickets.

It's certainly not any of my business, but the way Garrett (who just spoke to the media) very noticeably and very repeatedly referred to the other person in the crash as "my passenger" and not "friend" or "girlfriend" or even refusing to say the word "she" or "her" at all certainly makes it seem like it may have been a side chick and he doesn't want to upset the apple cart :chuckle:

I found that a little odd too. My first thought was it is possible it is someone associated with the team......someone who works on staff or the daughter of a staff member. Who knows. It may just be Myles trying to move on from it.

Police cam footage blocked out the passenger as well. I see them do that with parties not involved often. I guess that could apply since Myles was driving.

It was Gordon Gunds daughter, wasn't it?

Budding in with more unsolicited insight from a lawyer. If the passenger was injured, it's possible (maybe even likely) she retains a lawyer to pursue a personal injury claim against Myles. (I'm sure she has gotten solicited from ambulance chasers a lot already considering the notoriety this has gotten)

Doesn't really matter if Myles and the passenger were close
to one another. I've seen family members suing one another (and it not be anything personal) because in actuality it will be Myles' insurance company paying the judgment.

If that were the case, the attorney (and counsel representing Myles) would certainly want to conduct a download of the ECM data from Myles car to know exactly how fast he was going. Also, the prosecutor could theoretically request a download of the ECM data if he/she wanted. Doesn't look like Myles is going to fight it so there would be no reason, but the prosecutor would have the power to do so.

So there are ways' Myles actual speed could become known. In all likelihood, the passenger will quietly get a sizable settlement with a confidentiality provision just to make it go away.

Wrong. 65 was the estimate of the HP based on physical evidence such as skid marks, etc.

20 over isn't an unusual thing. Add in a deer, an oncoming vehicle, and a fire hydrant in the wrong spot and you get a worst case scenario for a situation that the extreme majority of the time ends up with absolutely nothing happening.

Too many people are out to crucify Garrett over this. A bunch of holier-than-thou pricks in my estimation.
