Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m really not interested in a he said-he said. What I am interested is if the NFL really does have audio of the full incident and are actively participating in a cover-up.

Most players aren't going to call out a player on their own team, especially a quarterback, in a sport where damn near everyone is replaceable. It's better to just keep your mouth shut than to risk rocking the boat, killing team chemistry, making enemies, etc.

I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as you think. Keeping their mouth shut over something Ben said is more understandable, but Rudolph? Dude's a scrub and hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt or respect that Ben would have in the league and amongst his teammates (yes, I know there's issues with that as well).

Point being, covering for Rudolph literally does nothing for the locker room and in fact would likely serve to divide it. All covering for Rudolph would accomplish was keeping Myles off the field for the rest of the season.

Given the culture of modern professional sports, I have a hard time believing that other African-American players (or most white players) would tolerate hearing a white QB, regardless of team, use the N word toward another African-American player in any situation.

That's not saying it didn't happen. I still believe it's possible given Myles reaction. It just means if it did happen it's unlikely the other players heard it. I'd have to think some "anonymous" source or something else would've surfaced in the offseason if it happened and other people heard it, whether it was someone who had access to the audio in the league office or another player for the Steelers.

The fact that the NFL mysteriously has no audio for that particular play is definitely a bit questionable though.Given the presence of sideline and overheard cameras and mics, there has to be audio that exists somewhere.

I would believe it just for the fact that it would make for an amazing Netflix docuseries in the future

I love it that old Rudolph's lawyer is talking about suing Garett. Yeah let's throw 100g away to a lawyer on a case u can't win.
I’m BEGGING them to file a suit. Let’s open this thing up for discovery and release the details publicly.

It’s a completely hollow threat because they know the implications of a lawsuit. Legally - the NFL would need to hand over any/everything they have.

Yes. If it happened and the NFL has proof but chose to cover it up, the shit storm it would cause amongst the players would be astronomical. I’d guess it’d most likely resulting in a player strike if you combine how the Kaep situation was handled.

My guess? This blows over and in 5-10 years some guy working in the NFL Films archive finds the tape and suddenly we have a 30/30 about the helmet swing.

How many people have had access to that tape? Not one leaked whether he said the N word? I dont like baseless accusations and labeling people as racist with a he said she said. Until we hear the tapes Rudolph is a POS who picked a fight and got dropped.

Is Myles telling the truth about the slur? I don’t know.

Is the NFL covering it up to prevent a nasty race story? I don’t know.

Has Mason Rudolph been a shit-stained taint from the incident to now? That, I do know. Go ahead and file a suit so we have legal proof that you are the softest motherfucker in league history.

What if I told you...

I think the NFL told ESPN to bury this

I'll believe that if there is nothing more, but having Tomlin on First Take today just continued to stir the pot. Unfortunately, I'm sure our lovely local media will carry the torch throughout the summer and into training camp, up until the first game against Pittspuke.

I be curious to know when Myles heard him say it, because I was watching the video again and there is definitely a moment when he is first tackling Rudolph where the nearby linemen are turned the other way and the ref is a few feet away. If he said it under his breath in frustration I could easily see how no one else would have heard it, and if Rudolph's mic wasn't working then it would literally be Myles' vs Mason's word.

It’s not that Rudolph’s mic wasn’t working. They said his helmet was replaced during the game with a mic-less helmet.
