2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you acquired 4, you don't even consider a trade down.

#4 and #5, you take the top two players on your board. Even if it's both Culver and Hunter. At #26, you likely trade out for two high 2nd's. One in 2019 to draft and stash, and a 2020 second.

Developing 2 rookies in the Top 5 will take plenty of resources and would really move us in the right direction toward relevance.
That would actually make drafting Garland more of a serious option...say you took Culver and Garland.
Start Culver and bring Garland off the bench and slowly integrate more time with Sexton as the year goes on.
That would be some interesting young talent. I can see how trading down to 10 or 17 would make Goga or Langford really appealing choices in that range.
I still hope we can make something really good out of JR's contract as well.

So.... Phoenix gives up Josh Jackson only and gets back Lonzo Ball in the process?

That part of the deal could easily be adjusted. Neither Ball or Jackson his lit the world on fire, but it’s reasonable to assume that Ball has slightly more value than Jackson and that the Suns may have to throw in a sweetener.

Sure, if it's Culver and Garland, that's fine, too. Either way, take your top 2 guys.

Getting 2 Top 5 guys... if one really turns into a star, you're happy. If they both become very good NBA starters, you're in business.

I am seeing disappointment coming. All this talk but little smoke is pretty telling.

I'm serious. Kevin Love is an important player for this team. Players like Cedi and Sexton can learn a lot from him. You don't just trade that for a #4, which could end up being a scrub.

Because love is the corner stone of the franchise and he can help the young guys develop into solid fundementally sound players. Vs a rookie that's not gonna do anything. If it was the #2 pick I'd do it.

I think you are kind of right. The organization would have to be high on two players worth taking #4 and #5. I'm not sure they are that high on two guys that they would give up Love for the #4 pick in this draft and at this point in time. I think if Griff is call Koby to be the 3rd team in the AD trade and wants Love, Koby is probably saying figure out a way to get the Cavs the 3rd pick in a deal with the Knicks. I think they are that high in Barrett and will say #5 can be used also if we can get appropriate value back with #5 and Love for Barrett and an asset or player to bridge the gap in the value given up.

A 3 way deal with the Knicks, Cavs, Pelicans could be

Knicks get AD
Cavs get #3, Kevin Knox, and filler
Pelicans get #5, Dennis Smith Jr, and Kevin Love

Kevin Knox is pretty terrible and I'm not sold on RJ Barrett at the price of essentially KLove + 5. Easy pass from me. Its a horrifying trade in my eyes.

We would be getting fleeced here. Remember both teams need our help, not the other way around.

I think if we want Barrett we have to be in an AD to the Knicks deals. I just don't see another path to getting Barrett.

I'd personally want 3 draft picks in the top 20 and think that's a better route to building a team vs giving up alot of assets for Barrett. I would definitely do a trade down with the Hawks if it was #5 for #8 and #10. I also think it's a must that we use JRs contract to get a pick in the teens.

What is Kevin Love's realistic value though? The Mavs gave up a top 3 protected pick to the Hawks to move up from #5 to #3. That resulted in the #10 pick this year. I'm not sure we could realistically get the #10 pick for Kevin Love or even a pick that was likely to convey in the lotto.

I do like what Klove does for the spacing of the team and how that will help develop our young guys. Im just not sure how much value other teams will have for Love. Griff might be one of the few GMs to give up proper value for Love.

Who knows what his value is. But lets not kid ourselves Barrett is no where near the prospect Doncic was. Doncic was better in every aspect of the game. Even Barretts strengths Doncic was better at as a prospect and Doncic really didn't have any glaring holes to his game.
