2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why, if Chris Paul can be a good defender, can't Sexton. It's not like we are talking about IT the midget.
Chris Paul came out of college with phenomenal lateral quickness and footwork. He was already adept at defending the pick-and-roll and efficient at stealing the ball (though, Sexton did rack up more steals). They were just different defensive prospects.

Think about it like this, it took elite levels of footwork and lateral quickness as well as being one of the best defensive guard prospects of all time. CP3 entered the league as a +3.5 defensive win shares player. That number is insane for any rookie, let alone one who is six feet.

My point is, Chris Paul did not have to improve as a defender, he was already elite. Sexton entered the league as arguably the worst defensive guard. It is effectively implausible that he improves to CP3 levels. He does not have the lateral quickness nor the size to make up for it.

If they'll offer #8 and #10 for #4, it seems to me, they would offer #8 and #10 for #5 and #26 if their guy is still on the board at #5.

Thus, that #10 and #17 rumor can kiss my ass.
If R.J. is on the board at 5, why wouldn't we offer 8/10? The others though? Nope.

Defense requires skill, just like offense...Sexton is about as likely to become a Chris Paul level passer as he is to become a Chris Paul level defender.

If RJ is on the board at #5, we point to the sky to give thanks to the Big Man, and we turn in the card immediately.
Exactly, you already know when you just say it. R.J. available. Hell yeah! Don't even pick up the phone for others, turn in the card damnit!

Do it!

You see. That's what 8/10 looks like. That player. You don't even think twice.

If RJ is on the board at 5 I will be angry because we will pick him and he has bust written all over him.

I dont see picking a guy that high who played 5 college games. I am find with hunter or culver. Then try to move up with 36 snd JR
The fact he only played 5 games maybe the only reason we get him at #5

If it is the Cavaliers’ desire to trade down from the 5th pick then David Griffin may be getting some revenge on the franchise that let him go. By acquiring the 4th pick and immediately putting it up for sale, there is suddenly a ton of uncertainty around that selection. ‘Ok Griff is severely restricting the Cavs trade efforts, as other teams really have no choice, but to go to the Pelicans at #4, if they want to ensure they get their guy

He won’t bust offensively. He’s too good of a scorer and passer.

The issue will be his ability to defend.

He can get to the basket. He can't shoot Free Throws and doesn't have range. He is super overrated coming out of college. Had big turnover issues in college. I truly believe his "passing ability" is overrated. Defensively he is down right terrible. The media hypes him up like crazy because he can make the "splash" plays but he is really a negative player on the court. He likes to chuck up bad shots, can't hit Free Throws, turns it over a lot and is down right terrible defensively. Let another team bite the RJ bullet.

I think Griff is just doing what could be best for the Pelicans. If Barrett drops to #4 he will get a ton of call but he will get interest for Culver and Garland. One of those guys will be still be on the board at #5. Griff and Koby could just be seeing the same values in this draft and working the phones accordingly.

It would be dumb for him to take revenge on the Cavs if it hurts the Pelicans long term. #4 could be a real good player to pair with Zion.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that Griff is out for revenge against the Cavaliers. I’m just saying that, by acquiring the pick right in front of us and putting it up for sale, he is severely restricting our trade possibilities and opportunities, as no one knows who is going 4th now. Teams that might’ve been calling the Cavaliers are now calling the Pelicans. Griff is a hell of a GM, as that Anthony Davis trade showed. I wish we had never let him go...

Griffin spent some time out of a job. He's definitely only concerned with being successful right now, not with limiting the Cavaliers in any way.

I cant help but get the feeling Bol Bol is going to be a steal.
