NBA FINALS 2016 | GAME 7: CAVS @ WARRIORS | JUNE 19TH, 8:00 PM

Cavaliers victory parade. I wanted to be there!

Fred breaking down just always gets me. Exactly how so many of us who had our hearts broken over those decades responded.
Not a clevelander nor an american. But I tear up everytime I see that clip. I just felt the years of disappointment wash away because of that win. Cavs might just have 1 championship but that is and always will be THE greatest championship ever.

Some more parade pictures. Were you there?

Yup! Almost impossible to move. I ended up walking backward on the parade route to go from the front of the mostly stationary front of the parade to the back. So instead of the parade going by me, I went by the parade as they were stuck in all the traffic. Got to the end, saw the guys, then hopped a bus and made it back home in time to watch the speeches on TV.

I'm watching game 7 again, my annual re-watch. 1st quarter is over. Bron was notably quiet, just 2-5 with some assists. 2 turnovers. He was trying to get his teammates going. Both teams look tense. Kevin Love was aggressive on the boards with 5 rebounds in the 1st.

Cavs up 23-22. I'll take it. That translates to a 4 point victory over the course of a game.

2nd quarter done. Cavs down 49-42. Lebron 16-8-5, but we only have 1 3 pointer compared to their 10. We're not shooting well. I'd say nerves again for us.

Defense and rebounding are doing well, but we faltered on rebounding and offense when Kevin Love was out with 2 fouls. Tristan was also out against their death lineup with 2 fouls. Lebron was center and Jefferson PF and Shump SF. Not a good look.

3rd quarter starts with 5 points from Klay pushing the lead to 8. Then JR scores 8 points on a 2 and 2 3s and we're tied when Kyrie gets a layup going into Ezeli.

Cavs keep hustling and winning the 50-50 balls. Kyrie keeps making ridiculous layups, including an and one against Draymond Green, leading to a 6 point lead.

Cavs offense then stagnates and the Warriors tie the game at 71-71. Quarter ends GSW up 76-75. Kyrie had 12 points.

4th quarter. Lebron scored 6 straight on Ezeli to give the Cavs the lead. GSW tied it it at 89. It stayed that way until the Block. Ty Lue called a play out of the timeout and Kyrie got the 3 over Curry. with 1:05 left. Then Love got the Stop against Curry. Lebron got a free throw from a hard, but legal foul by Green. Green hit him on the right arm where he held the ball for the dunk and knocked him to the floor. Lebron landed on his elbow and forearm and managed 1-2 for the 4 point lead. GSW had 10 seconds to get the 3 and didn't make it.

Cavs win!

Who was in Cleveland this evening? I was 500 miles away in Peoria.

Convinced my wife to go after someone had tickets and couldn't go. She went under one condition, No High Fives. We had gone the previous finals and were at the Delly game. Afterwards I was high fiving everyone on our way back to the car. She got horribly sick for two weeks and blames it on me celebrating.

Watching a security guard skip on the bare concrete floor as time expired is something I will never forget. Game wasn't even at the arena or in the city but it was straight electric. It was so hard not high fiving fellow fans. I went with the Rick Flair Woooo! to compensate. I think my wife hated that more than me high fiving. *Shrug*

Photo is from the parking garage to the east of the casino. We just sat up there watching the crowd for an hour and a half before we even tried to leave.

Watching it in the arena and celebrating downtown was awesome. Hopefully others can enjoy and cherish a championship in our other sports. I'm along for the ride in all the sports. The streak was broken and the championship or bust mentality is strange. Yes it's heart breaking when your season ends and your team doesn't win, but the perspective that it should affect my day to day is over. Go Cavs, Guardians, and Browns!

Same for me - like night and day before/after 2016. And I can now enjoy just good ball without it leading to a championship.
