NBA FINALS 2016 | GAME 7: CAVS @ WARRIORS | JUNE 19TH, 8:00 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Correct if I’m wrong but the day of the title parade through Cleveland didn’t the ESPN announcers say it was the largest title parade ever?

Don't know about that but it sure as hell was the most crowded.
Yeah, I think there were memes using pictures of that crowd to trigger people during social distancing.

It's so crazy. 5 years later on a random day in August and about to watch the rook play his first summer league game and it still blows me away that we got one...

Kinda how I always imagined it would be as fan of a Cleveland sports team to win a championship...

It's like a badge for me, man. One of those things that nobody can ever take away. Sports are a wonderful thing.

I have watched that so many times. One thing to this day that still baffles me is Kyrie trying to make that layup on a fast break right after a GS miss with maybe 19 seconds left? He got the ball back and it worked out but, whew, i still scratch my head over that one.Edit...thats the one time in my life i liked Mike Breen...." oh, blocked by James"....i could play that on a loop as i go to sleep every night for eternity...well, not really but it was and still is a legendary call.

What's so funny about that call: is that the Breen call is going to down with Havlicek stole the ball as one of those things that will be played back every season going forward. But then afterwards you have JVG and Mark Jackson with the most limp dicked reply afterwards 5 seconds of nothing and then a wow from Mark Jackson with JVG complaining about the Cavs being slow to get into their sets. Hey asshole these guys are fucking exhausted

I envision this thread as a calm, soothing happy place that people can retreat to when the pressure of a mid-February game against the Nets just becomes too much. Instead of posting KYRIE CAN'T PLAY TEAM BALL TRADE LOVE LUE SUCKS LEBRON IS A SPOILED COACH-KILLING FUCK people can just come over here, leaf through a few pages, and let the resentment over that bad turnover or blown defensive assignment just fade away.

Funny you said that. I just reread this entire thread, and it was awesome. So anyone who got random, very dated "likes" from me today, you now know why.

I randomly come in to laugh that I was one of the people saying we were going to win at half. Once in my life I was the positive person, it was Game 7. You're welcome.

I couldn't even watch half of the game - I kept having to walk out of the room.

What strikes me is that the overwhelming reaction of all of us hard-core fans was crying. More casual fans seemed giddy/happy that night, but for the rest of us, we just unloaded a shitload of pain that night.

Fred MacLeod's reaction - "It's over" and then just breaking down - really nailed it. He was all of us that night. Fuck it - that belongs in this thread too:

I might have teared up just a bit. I was at home watching, beautiful summer night. Afterwards I went out in the back yard with a tall glass of Gentleman Jack on the rocks, a good cigar, and my dogs, crickets, fireflies, and bullfrogs croaking in the pond. A night to remember, for sure. Was it Father's Day on top of everything else? Seems like I talked to my kids earlier that day on top of everything else. What a good day it was.

My wife and I clung to each other just bawling for a couple of minutes. Both of us had lost our dads who were Cavs' fans and who we'd been to games with, she'd lost a brother who was a huge fan...and I think a lot of fans, especially older ones, had similar memories. That win was for us, them, and every other fan who had suffered through all the prior losses and heartbreaks. Total catharsis.

Then I took my kids to Dick's in North Canton and waited 3 hours in line for a t-shirt. Best line I ever waited in.

What's hilarious is the negative to positive ratio in this thread on the Cavs performance was like 4 to 1. You would think the Cavs were getting blown out by 20 with all the negativity. The weight of history and that this was a Game 7 made everyone nervous nellies

What an amazing boxscore:
-Cavs went with basically a 7 man rotation in a fucking game 7
-basically squeezed every possession on offense and defense to drain the ball out of GS hands.
- Kevin Love may have played the greatest game by any player not to score in double digits in Finals history
-I remember Lebron starting to look gassed and it makes sense he basically played the entire game
