NBA Finals Game 5: Cavaliers @ Warriors June 14th, 8:00 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Refs may have been bad, but Warriors played their best game of the series imo, and were much better than the Cavs tonight. I hate to hear it too.
I never like blaming the refs. It always sounds too homer-ish. Every teams has fans that swear up and down that their star player isnt getting calls.

I havent checked but Im sure the warriors fans are saying the same thing.

It wasnt refs... the game isnt fixed. It's just exhaustion from too few players. hopefully Lebron can pull out some magic next game.. and then game 7 is anyones.

I don't know what to type here, I am mad. I am mad it took 2 injuries to put this team on the brink of elimination against a team that if everyone was healthy, would be over in favor of the Cavaliers.

I will never say die, this team is certainly capable of winning game six and forcing a winner-take-all, but I can't shake the feeling this was a golden opportunity that slipped away. Blatt made the adjustment and it worked for the most part, Smith got into an offensive rhythm in the first half and became allergic to the ball in the 2nd half. Thompson was the second leading scorer behind James with 19. That will not get it done. IF only Smith kept into some sort of rhythm, along with TT's 3rd, this could have been a different outcome.

I could place blame on many things but a loss is a loss and Curry got out of his rut. I certainly don't think this team will just lay down at home on Tuesday but it must muster something deep within to not have the Warriors celebrate at the Q.

It's not over, even if you think it is. It's up to the guys on the floor and if they lay it all out and have the hustle and fearlessness that got them this far, anything can happen. This is not a death sentence, this is not some insurmountable task. First to 4 wins, no one has won shit yet.

I take it that you are not watching the game but reading articles about it?

I dunno. From espn:

"Elias notes that Curry is one of five players to score 17 points in the fourth quarter of an NBA Finals game in the past 40 years. The others are Shaquille O’Neal (2000 Lakers), Dwyane Wade (2006 Heat), Russell Westbrook (2012 Thunder) and Kevin Durant (2012 Thunder)"

They are describing game 5 as an epic display by Curry in the 4th qtr when he "took over" the game and outdueled Lebron.

From espn's perspective, game 5 solidified Curry's MVP selection. Ugh
Okay hm. Curry scores 17 in the 4th. LeBron tallies 16 in the 4th. Curry had 6 or so when game was almost over. Curry has not done much leading up to Game 5. What has LeBron done leading up and including Game 5? Gee wiz. It appears to not even being a close call. Besides, take Curry off of GS. Take LeBron off the Cavs. Who is more valuable?

Further; start a new league with new teams. You are allowed to pick one player from the current NBA to lead your new team. Who do you pick? Well gee wiz, DUH?

Trying to search for some optimism right now, but this is not the answer. Lebron had a future hall of famer, an all star pf, and game 7 at home. I still believe they can do it, but it's going to take a monumental effort by all guys not named Lebron. Only way we can come back to win this series.

FWIW,

after game 1 I said the Cavs are going to have to play "08 Cavs basketball"

That year we took the best team in the league to 7 games. We almost pulled it off with a lesser LeBron, lesser overall talent against a more talented Celtics team (better than the Warriors imo).

Even though its an uphill battle. We're right on schedule imo. If we can finally hit some perimeter shots and get some home cooking we can force a game 7.

Two days rest for Game 7. Warriors will face all the pressure. The problem is a 23 year old LeBron doesnt get as tired as a 30 year old LeBron.

If we can somehow survive game 6....I think we have a legit shot in game 7.

This is no knock on Curry.

Kyrie would have played just as well imo.
