NBA Finals | Game 5 | Cavs @ Cowards| June 12, 2017 | 9:00pm EST | ABC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd rather have our team. Don't care. We got fighters. Kyrie and LBJ are real warriors. I love our team.

Let them fakers celebrate a fake championship. Have fun. Soft chokers and always will be. And I'm not even mad. Their legacies will never be respected, ever.

Meh. I love LeBron. And I Like Kyrie. And I like Love. And I loved Delly and JR, last year.

But this year's team had a lot of has-beens/never-weres. JR and TT are mental midgets who only care about half the time, since they got paid. Korver is a great shooter when the pressure's not on. Frye is a great shooter who is too much of a liability defensively. Deron and Shump are overrated defenders, who can't shoot. JJ and RJ should retire. Derrick Williams intrigues me, but Lue will have to go, before he plays, since, apparently, he was balls-deep in Lue's wife. Who did I miss?

I say strip it down to the studs (pun intended), and find guys with brains and heart.

Find takers for Lover and/or TT. Go all-in on Jimmy Butler. Get to work.

We'll always have 2016.

I just think they were so stacked that KD was comfortable beyond belief

He knew in his mind he could miss 49 shots and GS would still be up

In OKC he didn't have that thought. He knew OKC would lose if he missed shots and he didn't like that much pressure. He threw his own pride away to win. He REALLY REALLY wanted to win. I can't imagine MJ or any other great respects this ring but whatever

Points created in Game 5 (points scored + points assisted)

Curry ---------> 57
Durant --------> 52

Don't be fooled.
Dude what did your tells tell you?

Every time the Cavs made a run it was Durant who made a play.
It was Durant who drained the 3 in game 3. Its Durant who tires LeBron out to hurt our team.
Thats the guy we have got to figure out a defender for.

Curry's presence is great. He's not better than Durant.

In a vacuum, maybe.

You're going to throw out all data and evidence that points to the fact that Curry can lead his team to 20 point wins without Durant, but Durant cannot? Durant was getting OUTSCORED in THIS series without Curry on court. And in the playoffs. By a lot. Curry wasn't outscored without Durant in the regular season, in the playoffs, not the Finals.

Yeah, Durant played really well off the gravity of Curry and getting fed assisted baskets and well off the freedom playing on a vastly superior team affords. He never thought they were losing. Nobody really did after game 1. He front ran all the way to a title.

I hear you. I do. But this was by rights "our turn". It took an unheard of move to derail that. It's never happened before. In any North American sport. But it happened at the moment in history when it's our turn. That's Clevelandy.

It's also Cleveland to fight back next year. And I feel that we will.

We just have a lot of wood to chop. There are so many knuckleheads on the roster. It's like half a step up from Mo Williams, Delonte West, and Boobie Gibson. Where are we going to get wing defenders with length? Where are we going to get competitors/high-basketball-IQ guys?

The 2017 NBA season is as relevant as a typewriter or Model T right now. It's in the past. Go get some Werthers and reminisce gramps, cuz RCF is already on 2018 time.

Cleveland Cavaliers, 2018 NBA Champions!

Are you saying that 2016 is not relevant? I'm HEADED to the 2016 Game 7 thread RIGHT NOW.

Go
That's a pretty shitty thing to hope for. Despicable.
Not hope in the sense that you want someone to suffer a torn ACL... I mean if you want to win a title you'd better hope they have a star out because their roster is absurd

Love has been too inconsistent since he's been here. Trade him for someone who can defend, so at least you have THAT consistently.
Idk if I want love to go...but I agree he has been a disappointment.

Yes, he is better than Durant. Or "more impactful," if you prefer. That seems obvious given the data over the entire season and the entire playoffs. Everything has to be factored into the calculation.

Now, Durant did have a great Finals. Better than Curry did. But does that change everything that happened all season and throughout the playoffs?

I don't think so.

For the Finals, here are the points created (points scored + points assisted):

Curry ---> 244
Durant --> 242

Also, the defensive set-ups have to be taken into account. That is, are we giving extra help on Curry and does that open things up more for Durant? That kind of thing.

Durant does not have the "gravity" that Curry does. Although I will say that it looked like he did in The Finals. But that may have been because of the amount of attention we focused on Curry. I'm not sure. I do know that Lue said the other day that he has worked to take Curry out of the equation when facing the Warriors. As in, make someone else beat you.

If I triple team you and your teammate goes off, it is easy to say that your teammate is better than you are. But it's not that simple. And that is where advanced stats and analysis come in, to help bridge the gap between the eye test and reality.

I'm not saying Durant sucks. I'm just saying that the evidence for the entire season, and the playoffs, seems to indicate Curry is more impactful for the Warriors.

Paul George would be a better fit than Love on this team btw. We'd matchup perfectly with their top 3 players. So every game would basically be a contest of whose big 3 played better. Don't forget PG is a crazy good defender. We could sign or trade for a good PF. You'll never draft or sign a PG13

And this is coming from a Kevin Love mark. The league has changed and we need a matchup for KD now

I am just going to be honest with all of you, I don't know what to type. Cleveland had ample opportunities throughout this series and only capitalized in one game. I wish things would have gone a different way. I wanted Love to show up on the offensive end, I wanted Korver to remember how deadly of a shooter he is and I wanted the bench to produce anything, anything. I wish every missed basket in game 5 went in and I wish they scored just 1 more bucket in game 3. We didn't see the true Cleveland Cavaliers team this series and I am sticking with that.

When they lost a few seasons back, I took it hard. Harder than even the players and borderline obsessive. I couldn't shake the feeling of defeat for months. Today is different. I am still disappointed, I am still heartbroken but my internal emotions aren't going insane right now and probably never will. I don't know what I am feeling this way, maybe because everything that could go wrong did that postseason years back, I certainly don't invest my time and head into this game only to be disappointed but that is the life of a sports fan. This truly hurts, it will forever hurt and I wish time would make me forget. I will move on as we all will but every so often this series will creep into my head and I will be in a mini funk until my mind wanders else where.

My ocd made me finish the entire ABC telecast and maybe I am bias but the crowd wasn't into it and even the reactions from the players didn't seem real. It all felt glossed over. Can't explain it but it felt like an entire sense of entitlement loomed in that arena and that is a damn shame. I don't think that city deserves a championship because 99% of those fans were wearing Los Angeles Lakers jerseys not too long ago. I am certainly not one to pass judgement but it didn't feel right, it felt off in a way.

This team (Cavs) need to get better. I don't know what can be done to bring down the Warriors but something has to be done. Despite what is being said in the media, this is not good for the league and its completely different than what James did. I take solace in knowing it took 4 all stars to take down LBJ. To me that move fucked up this league and hopefully they can't keep that team together for too long. Obviously anything can happen in sports but I seriously don't know what can tip the scales back in our favor.

I think the Warriors are disgusting and I think they bought the trophy. They didn't earn it, they got a weak-minded sensitive athlete to join their ranks to take down this Cavs team. If this was the same Warriors team as last year, I think Cleveland wins.

This might sound like sour grapes and it is a little but just my two cents.

Bad omen when my power went out for 2 minutes of game action in the first, when the Cavs were rolling so my ocd has me watching what I missed in the upcoming hours but once I delete this game off the dvr it will never be looked at again. I root for the Cleveland Cavaliers, win or lose. But when just seeing pictures of the logo on my social media channels bad memories, I have to change it. I went throughout my profiles and changed icon pictures, display images, etc. When the season starts up, I will be right back at it. Not like anyone cares but I will be taking a short break from this place too. I just need it. I will start to post around the summer league and when any off season moves take place. This fucking sucks, I thought of the summer league for a brief moment when the game became out of reach.

I just want to say one more thing...

I love this place. I love having intelligent conversations with basketball fans and I love this team. Even in defeat we are proud, we are resilient. This team has been bi-polar at times but they came close to repeating as champs. I seriously enjoy my time here and I cannot wait for the tip of preseason.

I don't know what moves can be made. I don't know if it will take someone on the GS side being traded or injured and leaves them a shell of their former self. All I know is that this team will be back in this position next season and it will feel fan-fucking-tastic to beat those smug bitches once again. I can't fathom a league where the likes of Curry or KD eventually have more rings than the King and I will root until I am blue in the face to make sure that doesn't happen.

I fucking love all of you.

Goodnight.

I am going to go drown myself in junk food and watch Pawn Stars.

On a side note, i know I left with LBJ and came back with him. So leave those comments to your self, at this point I am a fan.

Nah, that title was won with blood, sweat, and tears. That one is historic. This 2017 title is like your dad giving his flunkie kid a job at his company. Yeah he has a nice car and money now, but he doesn't have the respect of his coworkers and peers. And it will always be eating at him. If you noticed, there wasn't a ton of joy last night. It felt dirty to everyone involved, even the fans knew it. All that and they STILL couldn't close out 16-0.

Tip the cap to Durant. He made the backbreakers last night.

Cavs will be back in 2018. I think we will see some defections from GS.

I'd tend to agree with this take only because, in game 4, Curry was nullified.. and we win easily. Durant still went off. It was the only game where we really controlled Curry. Curry is still what really makes that team go. Durant is just his shiny toy to make it easier for him. As big of a bitch as Curry is, he somehow managed to figure out a way to not be the biggest one on his own team. Amazing.

Our Bench is the problem massively.

KD / LeBron was very even , KD averaged a couple of points more a game but Lebron was better in rebounds, assits, steals ad FG%.

Curry / Kyrie - kyrie averaged about 3 more points a game then steph so again very close.

Klay / K Love - this again was very close. both averaging 16 PPG.

Draymond / Swish - Again this was close , both averaging 11 PPG.

ZaZa / TT - TT averaged 2 points more a game than ZaZa.

so looking at all that , our starting 5 matched very well with there starting 5.

The bench is what cost us , Iggy , Livingston , West , Clark destroyed our bench of RJ, Korver , Shumpert , Williams.

we need to scrap most of our current bench and look for younger more atheltic wing players.

If the PG / Love trade could happen , i would definately do that as PG helps alot more defensively. if that can't happen , i'd try get Melo for as little as possible then get some younger defensive players. Liggins could have helped at times this series on steph which why letting him go for dahtay was stupid
