NBA Finals | Game 5 | Cavs @ Cowards| June 12, 2017 | 9:00pm EST | ABC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We can't let them come out quickly and get an early lead. Key is to keep this a game going into fourth. #believeland

Anybody got the Q's music list counting down to tip off? I swear I always bump Phil Collins Air tonight loud enough to make my ear drums shatter and probably piss off neighbors.

Fuck it

Win this game!

Before the series, I thought the Game 5 winner would win the series. Still believe that to be true.

Look for LeBron to have one of his all-time great games to will the team to victory in what will be the toughest remaining game in the series -- as he continues to extend that playoff series streak with at least one road win. Would love to see a complete team game again, but on the road it will be tough. If we play good defense, limit turnovers, and get superhuman LeBron (and hopefully Kyrie), we get the W.

If we can get that, we have to like our chances in Game 6 back at home with the Q rocking and chanting "Cavs in 7!" all game. Get goosebumps just thinking about that.

And then you take your chances with the GOAT and Uncle Drew in Game 7 against a weak-minded team on the verge of the most epic collapse of all time.

Not saying its going to be easy, but win Game 5 and you have to like the position the Cavs will be in going back home with momentum.

Let's Go Cavs! #believeland

Ive heard this stat 1000 times, but never heard if this is a recors. It has to be, right?

2010: CHI, BOS
2011: PHI, BOS, CHI, DAL
2012: NYK, IND, BOS, OKC
2013: MIL, CHI, IND, SAS
2014: CHA, BRK, IND, SAS
2015: BOS, CHI, ATL, GSW
2016: DET, ATL, TOR, GSW
2017: IND, TOR, BOS

James has won a road game in 37 of the 40 playoff series he's played. The only times he couldn't win a road game in a series were the 2007 Finals vs. the Spurs, the 2008 ECSF vs. the Celtics, and the 2009 ECF vs. the Magic.

Jordan had the modern day record, I believe, with 24 ['91 through '93, '95, '96 through 98 ECF (Indiana won all three home games)].

The longest streak Bill Russell ever put together was 6 series in a row. Yes, fewer series played, but the Celtics won many series 4-3 by winning all home games.

Its to the point that I don't even want to start thinking that another history making run is about to happen...but if I'm honest with myself, I'm sure I felt the same way last year at this time...going into game 5 AFTER losing game 4 at home...so F it man...as JR said in the post above...'it aint nothing they haven't done before'...God I love that man

I hope I am wrong, but this feels like the talent difference in our Boston series. Boston needed so much to go right for them to finally win one. And then in game 5 reality set in..and that was with LBJ still being "off" for the first half of that game 5.

I HOPE I AM WRONG.

You're wrong.

We should have won Game 3.

We did win Game 4.

No question there is a talent gap and it's in their favor, but not as much of a gap as we had with Boston. We do have LeBron BAMF James and Kyrie BAMF Irving and Kevin BAMF Love. Celtics don't have any of that.

But the key is heart. We did lose our heads in Game 3 and it cost us a game, but never forget that Durant and Curry blew two 3-1 leads last year. Meanwhile Kyrie drained the biggest shot in NBA history (go find another Game 7 Finals that had a shot very late in the game that decided everything) and LeBron has been the best player on the floor three years running (Iggy over LeBron for 2015 Bill Russell -- please -- his shit was ENDED by the King last year dude). Meanwhile Stephanie couldn't evade Kevin Love's defense to get a decent look -- hilarious.

Our heart still may not be enough -- probably won't be. But the Warriors still have to eliminate LeBron. That's not easy.

LeBron is the great equalizer

He is so head and shoulders above every other player in this series it can keep us in it even against the Western Conference all stars.

however:
to win this game will be the most hard fought win in franchise history. Yes, moreso than game 7 last year. We need the role players to show up again

1. Kyrie Irving is the most important player in this game's outcome IMO. He has to outplay Curry. I seriously can't think of a scenario short of LeBron dropping 60+ where we can beat the Warriors in Snoracle without Kyrie outplaying stick boy #1

2. JR Smith can't disappear again. He played well at home. He played like one of the worst players in the NBA in games 1 and 2. I seriously think he is mostly the reason we lost game 2. Just soooooo bad. We can't afford him being timid on offense and lost on defense

3. Speaking of lost on defense, the amount of points the Warriors score on botched Shumpert rotations is remarkable. Korver is a part of our best defensive lineups. It's not a coincidence. He is 100,000 times the defender Shump is simply because he isn't braindead. Shump literally has no basketball IQ (Check out @Chris Parker's post in the Shump thread for a great visual post of this). Korver needs to get essentially all of the 2 minutes that JR isn't getting. Shump needs to be in the 5-10 minute range

4. TT needs to rebound. Simple enough.

5. Deron Williams must remain glued to the bench. He seriously fucking blows. I could forgive his offensive pants shitting, but he is so fucking bad on defense that he let's Klay cut to the hoop for easy baskets.

FYI, the great Bobby Marks is picking the best player on the court in an elimination game tonight.
