NBA News & Notes

Has Kevin Love said a proper goodbye to Cleveland and the fans yet?

Some contending team is gonna sign John Wall and he’s gonna be a pain the ass come playoff time…

Such a shame. I really liked what Chicago was doing with that Ball/LaVine/DeRozan back-court. Ball was a perfect fit. He could shoots 3s, play defense, and make plays.

I read somewhere the initial BBB shoes were such low quality that Ball had to change to a new pair at halftime every game. The stitching was coming undone and they fell apart. Couldn't handle the workload.

I also don't think guys his size are meant to chase around smaller faster PGs. We saw how quickly it wore down Shump and JR Smith who are basically the same height and build of Lonzo Ball.

I think having a taller PG is a nice perk to have in the NBA but teams should think how about they manage their loads on the defensive end through out the season.

I truly can't stand Doug Gottlieb, but those shoes were absolute trash. I used to design for one of the bigger shoe companies, and have several friends that did (and still do) work for the biggest, and we had group chats about how utterly stupid Lavar was for their process of bringing those bricks to market. They should've either focused solely on "casual" shoes and stayed away from the performance market entirely, or had Lonzo sign with ANY of the established brands (preferably Nike), get himself a position in the company, and treat it like an internship, then use that time and the companies own money to fund their competition. Steal processes, connections, designers, etc.

Also, Im entirely convinced Lavars training programs were part of his kids demise. Training that hard, that often, on concrete is incredibly stupid; especially for kids.

Didn’t LaMelo do an ‘internship’ with Puma? Maybe I’m thinking of someone else.

I’m in apparel as well and can confirm. I have a friend that makes shoes and a couple that design for UA. It’s not hard to make great looking shoes as you can even find the factories that produce Nike & Adidas stuff. The issue is the QC & testing that goes into making them performance ready, and the odds of any of that happening for BBB are slim-to-none.

The manufacturers don’t care for the most part, especially if they’re in China. It’s why you see all those cheap knockoff Jordan’s being made by the same factories Nike uses. They look almost the same, but you can’t play basketball in them. A friend of mine bought a pair he thought was real off eBay. The first game he played in them the sole completely ripped out of the bottom of the shoe.

LaMelo is currently with Puma, but that was *after* BBB already brought out their first shoe for each of the 3 boys. The damage to the brand was already done.

This makes a lot of sense. The warriors are pretty boxed in with the new CBA. There are going to be a lot of hard decisions and there will be players pissed off because of it. He will have his pick of another franchise to run and he can get a better war chest and cap situation.

He’ll probably look to take over the Spurs now.
