The Lakers now absolutely need to make that Westbrook plus FRPs for Hield-Turner trade with the Pacers. If Lebron was smart he insisted on it as a condition of re-signing. Hield Turner AD Lebron Beverley is a lineup that gives them a fighting chance to contend. And will last for the duration of Lebron’s contract
Until AD ends up on his normal role, the bench

Pat Beverley to the Lakers for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson

Ainge snagged two of the Lakers only decent young bench players for an old guy not helpful in a rebuild...smart move...win-now move for the Lakers, they really need to ship out all the FRPs they can in order to dump Westbrook.

Im interested in the roster pinch the Jazz are gonna go through this fall...they havent made a consolidating move yet, and keep trading 1 guy for multiple guys. Theyre gonna *have* to waive guys, or consolidate for a most expensive guy, at some point, right?

Are either Hield or Turner expiring contracts?? Why would (as Pacer GM) take on Westbrook’s $47 million contact (a contract he’s refusing to be bought of) for FRPs that 3 and 8 years down the road.

Turner is expiring Hield has one more year

Taurean Prince in the news, arrested at Miami airport on a Texas fugitive warrant. Something about drugs at a traffic stop.

Could it all be a misunderstanding?

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday that Gary Harris has torn his left meniscus, but there is no timetable for his return yet.

Harris isn't high on Orlando's depth chart because of their influx of young guards. Still, he'll be sidelined indefinitely, but we should have a better idea of when he'll be back after he undergoes more tests. The Magic will have to rely on RJ Hampton and Terrence Ross a bit more on the wing if Harris isn't good to go to start the season.

I'm so glad the Cavs aren't tanking anymore.

There are going to be some desperate teams this year.

Danilo Gallinari has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee according to Shams Charania.

The original diagnosis was a torn meniscus, but initial reports were deemed wrong after further evaluation. This the same ACL that Gallo tore back in 2013 and he's now likely to miss the entire season even though an official timetable hasn't been announced. Look for Grant Williams to see an uptick in minutes off the bench following this news.

This hurts Boston a lot ... good news!

NBA tells teams salary cap could jump to $134 million for 2023-24 season

2:49 PM MT

NEW YORK -- The NBA told its teams Friday that it still expects to see a significant jump in the salary cap and tax level in the 2023-24 season.
Based on current projections, both figures -- $134 million for the salary cap, $162 million as the tax level -- would set records, and both are $1 million higher than the league's most recent projections made in June. The figures represent the cap rising 8.4% and the tax level 7.8% over the 2022-23 season.

The 2022-23 season has a salary cap of $123.655 million and a tax level of $150.267 million.

Also Friday, the league told teams that total luxury tax payments for the coming season would be around $660 million, half of which would fund revenue sharing and the other half distributed in equal shares -- about $17 million each -- to teams not currently projected to have to pay the tax.
But that tax number can, and almost certainly will, fluctuate wildly before a final calculation is made at the end of the regular season.
Training camps in the NBA begin later this month, with the regular season starting Oct. 18.

The Thunder announced that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a Grade 2 left MCL sprain which will sideline him for the start of training camp.

According to Thunder PR, SGA will be re-evaluated in two weeks. These injuries typically take about four weeks to recover from, but all bets are off when you're talking about SGA and the tanking Thunder. Needless to say, the Thunder will take their sweet time when they can. This news bumps SGA down the draft ranks quite a bit and it catapults Tre Mann onto the fantasy radar.
