Neogaf

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@TyGuy is certifiably crazy, but I tend to agree with him on Neogaf's uber liberal views and hive mind mentality. Opposing views get hushed or banned. Anyone with typical hyper liberal opinions is free to openly personally attack the opposing side without consequence.

I've lurked their gaming side daily for years because like you said, it's the biggest gaming forum out there. I haven't bothered to apply to register because for one I feel the whole registering process is rather pompous, and two, I'd probably get banned as well. I enjoy gallows humor and occasionally saying awful things for the sake of being awful. That doesn't tend to go over well over there.

So I lurk.

Oh it goes over really well over here too

At least we don't ban you for having a difference of opinion or going full force and delete content to censor the site.

Everybody here that is skeptical of the non gamer gate gets ridiculed and banned. If you hint at having any conservative views ditto.

No, a mod advertised me making an off color joke to the rest of the board, harbored an environment to ridicule me, and made a poll asking people if I was an awful person, and compelled me to apologize to people who weren't involved, at all, in the situation.

I wasn't aware of that situation, sorry.

Video Game Forum NeoGAF Offline Amid Sexual Assault Allegations Against Owner
Many of the site moderators quit

Popular gaming forum NeoGaf is offline following allegations of sexual assault against site owner Tyler "Evilore" Malka. The site currently lists an error and a note that it is down for site maintenance. Many of the site's moderators left the site in protest following the current allegations.

Glixel has reached out to Malka for comment but has not received a reply at this time.

Saturday night someone posted screen captures on NeoGaf of a Facebook post that detailed an incident in which a woman said that a man she was friends with had shocked her by getting into the shower with her completely naked. After friends asked her to name the man, she told them to "Google Evilore."

In the wake of the post, members started protesting Evilore on NeoGaf and many of the moderators quit. The site was taken offline shortly after the protests started. It has been going on and offline over the past 12 hours.

This isn't the first time Malka has faced allegations of sexual assault. In 2012, Malka wrote about a trip to Spain in which he grabbed a woman after buying her a drink.

"I laughed because drinks here were all of two Euros," he wrote at the time, as shown in a screen cap, "but consented and then grabbed her ass hard to show that I wasn't being taken advantage of, and she thought better of treating me as a mark and left without taking her drinks."

Neogaf started in 2004 as a spin-off of the forums located on gaming site Gaming-Age, which was the original Gaf. Over time, it became home to a wide-variety of gaming discussions which often included participants who were game developers and journalists.

This story is developing.

:chuckle:

Christmas is here early for you, Ty!

Just.... FWIW, the situation the woman posted about, that a LOT of sites aren't reposting for some reason doesn't seem like sexual assault IMHO.

These two had been drinking.. They went on a trip, the two of them, together, to New Orleans... They are sleeping in the same hotel room it seems? They're drinking and talking and she "gets sick" and goes to the bathroom and then takes a shower.

This dude Tyler I guess learns to pick locks and stealth his naked ass into her shower Psycho style?

She then tells him no thanks, and what does he do?

He gets out, puts his clothes on, and acts awkward for the rest of the trip.

I just wanna establish some ground truth here... If he really like, forced his way into the bathroom and somehow got in the shower without her consent we'd all agree that'd be a problem.. dunno if I'd call it assault if he didn't touch her, but it's definitely something.

But, does that make sense? Not to me it doesn't.

It sounds like she wasn't into him, but she took a trip from him anyway .. and after drinking in the room, that she knew he was in the bathroom, and they were very likely talking. He probably intimated that he wanted to hop in, she said probably did not forcefully (enough) decline; he did it, and she said "no seriously" and then he got out.

She then didn't like the fact that reality sunk in for him that she was there for New Orleans and not him, even though they're traveling together (i.e, his so-called "being taken advantage of").

She then didn't like the fact that he was now being awkward.

She then didn't like the fact that her boyfriend was pissed (wasn't he pissed about the whole situation in general though)?

Harvey Weinstein happens...

And now, #metoo?

I dunno man.. It's like I said in the Hollywood thread, some of this stuff seems incredibly exaggerated. Sounds like a bad misunderstanding, she said "no" he gets out and acts weird and her boyfriend breaks up with her? That's not in the same ballpark as a woman being sexually assaulted... Sorry.

That’s what happens when you foster an ultra pc culture echo chamber that perma bans anybody to the right of insanity.

They protected a mod that was a pedophile for years until they couldn’t anymore and then Completely disassociated and pretended like they didn’t know the guy.
