New Arena in Downtown Akron?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sarcasm at all. I'm for arts and whatever in high school to build a well rounded student. I'm not in favor of it in college per prior post.

Ah, well I was talking about lower education, so no worries then. I doubt arts and language are struggling to get funded by colleges in comparison to high schools.

Even so, I don't think it's ever a positive thing to lose opportunities for education. It'd be nice if we didn't force kids ill-suited for college to spend on it or, better yet, do something about the outrageous fucking cost.

Well, If i was still living here by the time this was voted on, it would be a big fat no. I would rather that money go to the public schools then an arena in akron.
As much money as Akron has invested in the infrastructure of the university and as much land as they have continued to purchase around the university, I see no reason they cannot fund this themselves. 95% of the voters in the county will never set foot in that arena and there are already structures downtown that meet county needs for events. Total waste for the taxpayer.

I would vote yes because I care about the University. It's a .25% increase in sales tax, whoopty do. Anyways, most of the revenue generated will be going to jail operations, as well as 911 and emergency radio system and capital improvement.

The University trying to improve their image as well as the area around campus shouldn't be held against them. The University brings a lot to the city believe it or not, and it's time the city start showing appreciation. There are not structures downtown that can come close to supporting many of the events that could be brought in with an arena. I bet Cleveland loves the economic benefit of having an arena downtown now rather than in Richfield.
