New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hate Big Bang. Never got it. Never liked its reductive nerd humor. Even though I like comic books, Star Trek/Wars.

Frasier should be considered.

It is the second most highly decorated show in history; only GoT has won more Emmys, Golden Globes and Peabodies. And they only passed Frasier last year.

It has aged better than Cheers, and most of the other 80s/90s sitcoms.

I don't know if I ever laughed watching Big Bang theory, even though the obnoxious laugh track tried its best to entice me. Scrubs is my #1 goto for making me laugh.

Just finished season 5 of silicon valley on HBO. Highly recommend it. Don't even have to be well versed in tech to get into it either. It contains sophisticated/cynical humor and that's always been my cup of tea.

Netflix has moved from quality to quantity. I think they are going to hit a wall with subscribers soon. It's hard to wait for the quality tv shows that seem to take 18+ months now like Lost in Space, the Crown, or the OA. It might be years before we get another season of Master of None.

Netflix use to have their pick of British tv shows so that kept the quality fairly high but now AMC, Starz, Amazon, HBO, etc are willing to do joint ventures with BBC and other British tv stations.

They really need 12-15 shows a year that catch people's attention instead what seems like 25-30 shows and 20-25 sub-par movies. I'd much rather see a couple good movies surprise us every year on Netflix than the movies they are currently willing to produce. I tend to start a movie on Netflix and check the IMDb after 10-15 minutes in and decide it's not worth my time.
Netflix gets a lot of random shows for me that come out of nowhere and are extremely enjoyable like Love, death, robots. They also continually pump out that HDR 4k goodness where the only competitor is amazon prime video. I've said it before, but if you have a 4k hdr set Netflix is pretty much a requirement to ensure you get the most out of your expensive tv.

Haha that's next on my list.

Amazon needs to advertise this shit better.
Not only are they putting out some quality tv, but they are the only service streaming hdr 10+.

Chernobyl is good.. greatest show ever? No.

The last episode was dull.

I've tried watching chernobyl 10 times, can't get through any of it

HBO's 'Chernobyl' Is Already the Highest Rated Show of All Time on IMDb

Well, people are down voting the fuck out of GoT since its disastrous ending. It's been a 9.5 for years, with over a million votes. But shortly after the final, it manage to get down voted to 9.4. That's how pissed and angry people are over GoT.

As for Chernobly (haven't seen it). Might be great. But ratings that are so high when a show has been released, only stands a chance to lower over time.

I believe Band of Brothers at one of point was at like a 9.8 which is just unheard of (great fucking mini series too - truly deserved it).

Chernobly has just 80,000 votes (still impressive) at 9.7... Seems to be having that BoB kind of impact. But realistically over time it will probably fall around 9.5 much like BoB did.

Obviously anything in the 9.5 range is very, very impressive.

But when shows go off air they just go lower.

Sopranos at one point was in the 9.5 to 9.6 range, then fell off to 9.2 after being off over 10 years (which is still really good).

And I feel its kinda out of dated compared to shows like Breaking Bad, GoT, etc. I like to judge the test of time with these ratings. Not that I think they're literally the all be when grading shows or what not.

Still though I like IMDB's ratings though most of all because its not snobby ass critics deciding whats good, or not, but the people deciding what is good or whats not.

Although a lot of people are idiots. And when I disagree with a rating I tell myself that. :chuckle:

Too many millennials (I'm one so I'm not trying to hate) tend to rate more relevant stuff higher, compared to older stuff that might actually have better context and plots, but just doesn't feel as original to the younger crowd since its been done to death since and more enchanced. Hence why older shit gets lower ratings compared to new stuff.

Probably my biggest beef with IMDB. But that's just generational.

Imdb can be manipulated by the studios etc, just go with Metacritic and rt
