New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Has anyone started watching The Witcher? I've watched two episodes and was pretty hyped for it. It hasn't impressed me so far. It's hard for me to get over the color palette they decided to use and how it's been shot so far.

I’ve only seen the first episode and the color palette is the least of its worries.

The dialogue is cheesy and the acting doesn’t fare much better.

It just sucks tbh. It borders on parody.

I started to watch it last night but couldn't really get into it. Will try again later but I thought the dialogue was pretty terrible. Like, noticeably bad.

I think I got caught up in how weird it looked that I wasn't listening too hard to the dialogue. Like everyone is in a brand new costumes that are too clean/pressed and everything in the background looks like they just got it out of a catalog. The lighting is all wrong.

Truly I don't know why Netflix promoted this show so hard. If this was a movie, they would have been reshoots and more reshoots to correct everything.

I am glad someone else brought this up first. I've seen all the rave reviews from everywhere (better than GOT?!?), so I was thinking it was just me. I am 3 episodes in and I feel like this is some sort of spoof/parody as Kyrie mentioned. No clue what's going on, everyone feels like they are overacting. It gives off bad SyFy channel series vibe. Now that the clean clothes on everyone was mentioned, I can't unsee that. Just not enjoyable at all at the moment.

His dark materials is awful imo. Im trying so hard to enjoy it and i just cant

It is just awful.

The little girl is so fucking annoying. And stupid.

I agree on the Expanse. Really glad Amazon saved it from an early demise. I love Amos, consistently cracks me up with things like "do you want me to shoot Murtry too?" while delivering the line completely deadpan.

It seems to be an unpopular opinion here but I actually like the Witcher. I've never had any exposure to it outside of the show, and my expectations weren't real high going in. I agree about it having a rough start but I'm on episode 5 now and it's gotten much better.

Witcher picks up around episode 5. Overall it was decent, but certainly not the heir apparent to Game of Thrones that it was hyped up to be.

As someone who read the books, it was cool to see some of those stories come to life on the screen. I’ll be interested to see what season 2 has in store.

Really glad that I listened to the hype on here and started watching The Expanse. I’m only four episodes in I think, but I’m really enjoying it. Glad that Amazon picked up another series that probably got canceled before its time. I know the ship has long since sailed, but I really wish one of these online streaming services would have done the same with Firefly...

I'm actually enjoying the witcher 4 episodes. Henry as Geralt is spot on. The guy playing dandelion is also very good. I'm going to disagree about that dialogue. The stuff involving Geralt is very good. My favorite was the interaction between Garrelt and the Sylvan in episode 2 "did your mother fuck a snowman?" The lady playing Yen is better than I thought she would be.

2 episodes into the 3 part mini series “Don't Fuck With Cats”. Pretty damn compelling so far.

Insane, fucked up story.

You Season 2 will be on Netflix Thursday.

Been reading the Hidden Bodies book in the interim to prepare, although there will be some significant changes in the show.

Decided to rewatch seasons three and four of The Expanse. I think the second half of season three is where the show goes from very good to one of the best shows on television.

I read an article that interviewed one of the showrunners and it was really cool to hear him talk about how they try to make traveling through space realistic. I appreciate that because as far as I can recall we've never seen a television show before that tried to accurately depict futuristic space travel. I'd assume this is because it would have been prohibitively expensive to do so in the past, and so all ships had artificial gravity and anything that was scientifically inconvenient to the plot was ignored.

Going to spoiler this next bit as I talk about a scene that really stood out to me from the first half of season three.

The scene where Prax doesn't properly secure the tool locker before a battle and, as the ship is constantly moving in different directions throughout the fight, the tools fly around the ship as they respond to the shifting gravity. That scene just perfectly illustrated how minor fuck-ups can be deadly in space, which is a constant theme throughout the books and a reason why Belters are so unforgiving with their punishments. Because all it takes is one person not doing their job properly for many more to die.

If you're not watching this show, you should be. It's fantastic, and seasons three and four have truly solidified it as one of the best currently active shows.

The show fucking takes risks: it's already killed off two characters who really don't have significant roles in the books but are awesome in the show as side characters.
Avarasala's bodyguard and Ashford

I hope they find a way to the time jump for persopolis. The laconains will be brilliant

Its my favourite show right now. Love how they have dripped in all the season 5 main players. Peaches and Marcos especially
