New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Season two of The Boys was fantastic, particularly the last three episodes. Between this and The Expanse, Amazon has two of the best shows on television right now.

"Remember what I told you."
"Don't be a cunt."

Words to live by. :chuckle:

If you're not watching this show, fucking watch this show. It hits that Game of Thrones sweet spot where you legitimately feel like anything could happen at any given moment. And unlike Game of Thrones, I haven't read this show's source material so I don't feel all smug because I already know, although it seems this show has changed quite a bit more than Thrones did.

It's an amazing graphic novel, I found it laugh out loud funny in moments and the series is pretty tame in comparison- it definitely has that shock factor turned up to 10.

I'm not sure how closely the show will follow the comics though, they've already changed a ton and it'll probably change way more before we're through.

Might check it out then, as I absolutely love the show. From what I've read, it seems as if one of the main changes is that they've switched the genders of a lot of the main characters, presumably to make the show a bit more inclusive, as in the comics I believe almost all of the key characters are dudes. I know Stormfront is, and personally I think Aya Cash absolutely crushed that role in season two. Pretty sure the Congresswoman who is basically an AOC stand-in is also a guy in the comics, and a fairly different character to boot.

Most of the people who have read the comics and watched the show that I've seen post about both online have mentioned that the changes for the show are almost entirely improvements.

You should absolutely watch the show. It's honestly one of my two or three favorite shows on television right now, right up there with The Expanse and Better Call Saul.

I enjoyed "To the Lake", which is a Russian show about two families fleeing Moscow to the hinterlands to escape a pandemic. Acting, dialogue, and plot are all good. It's more about the interaction between the people -- one family includes a guy, his wife and kid, and then his ex-wife and her kid, which gets really fucked up -- than about the pandemic. And its got a very "Russian" vibe to it which is kind of fun. Lots of vodka-swilling, brutal soldiers, and shitty weather.

Is this a documentary? :chuckle:

The disease is much more virulent, with much higher levels of mortality. Closer to Captain Trips than the coronavirus. Or maybe something like Contagion. It's hard to tell how much is due to the disease, and how much is due to overreaction by the military/government.

The characters are just done really well. You think they're all caricatures at first, but there's a lot more subtlety than that. And the sheer Russian-ness of it is comes through and really adds something. Much better to watch it in Russian with subtitles rather than dubbed.

Wonder if we'll be getting seasons 1-4 Dexter quality or the ending seasons' quality.

one would hope they're brining it back for something quite a bit better than the series ending.

I wonder if this has been in the works for a while, the latest season of Billions had several Dexter references (the book, not the series). I do wish I realized they had to shut down production before finishing the billions season before I started watching it. I tried to wait long enough for the season to be over before starting it so we could binge it.

Yeah, I meant to post last week after watching the season 2 finale of the Boys. IMO, it’s arguably the best show on tv. There is a lot of exposition at times, but the last few episodes were outstanding, especially the finale. It did a great job of tying up most of the loose ends from both seasons while still leaving plenty for season 3. Just about every character is unique despite being “similar” to other famous superheroes. Anyone that doesn’t laugh at how the Deep is portrayed as a pathetic Aquaman (who was always the Superfriend that was pretty much laughed at) needs to work on their sense of humor.

Finally got on The Boys. Finished up today. Oi, pretty fucking good.

My god the trailer for the Saved by the Bell reboot is out.

Here's the thing. THat show wasn't good the first time. It just gathered a following because Tiffany Amber Theissen was smoking hot.

Just finished Queens Gambit. Short, sweet, and a ride. Anya Taylor-Joy was mesmerizing as Beth Harmon. Eyes just draw you in.

Starting Away next

Thanks for posting. On episode 4 already, can't stop watching.

Edit: Finished it today. Awesome show.

And yeah, her eyes are mesmerizing. Best way to say it.

I watched that in two days. I really enjoyed it. Then I topped it off by watching "Searching for Bobby Fischer". Not sure what's next.

Just finished Tehran on Apple+Tv. I enjoyed it. More Fauda then Homeland IMO and not quite at Fauda's level, but still really good. Plus the main character is seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexy
