New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What I liked about Hewlitt was that he really wasn't cut out to be a soldier at all. He just did it because he didn't have any family money, and was trying to do the best he could. Nice to see in the end that he got what he really wanted out of life.

It is rather interesting that the British were considered to have the second-best army in the world at the time, only Frederick's Prussians were higher esteemed, with such general incompetence at the officer levels.

Most purchased commissions, and the senior officers were second sons who had no other real career prospects.

I would like to know more about the NCOs of the time, for they must have been quite formidable to keep the army in such good fighting form when the officers are spending all their time chasing tail and putting together amateur theatricals.

Exciting, yet bittersweet news. Makes sense with the Cas Anvar issue/Alex Kamal recast and the shift in the books after 6/7th book.

I assume we'll find out based on what happens this season whether they knew that the sixth season would be the last or not, because they'll likely cover a lot more ground if they did. I'm also curious what stuff they're going to cut to wrap everything up in time.

You'd think they'd cut the whole Laconia plot, but I'm also not sure that makes sense because of how centrally it's tied to the plot regarding who killed the creatures that created the protomolecule. And I have to think that plot line will be resolved on the show because it fucking has to be. It's a huge aspect of the story and I don't think they're going to Thrones us.

I could see them wrapping it up with the known threatof Laconia and maybe coming back to it in a few years bc of the jump in time. Long shot, but either way I don't see them rushing it. Marco and the aftermath has a bunch of content to finish out the last season.

Either way I'm happy about it, unless the go GOT, but I doubt they will based on how the production staff seems to get along very well with the actors. worst thing was cas anvar being a shady fuck and trying to leverage his fame into getting some.

And by God can I get more merchandise!

I just finished the Saved by the Bell reboot. If you were a fan of the original and also like 30 Rock, Great News, or Kimmy Schmidt. You will like the new Saved by the Bell.

They basically write Saved by the Bell like it is in that same universe as 30 Rock. It's alot better than the trailers make it out to be. The point of view also changes as the season goes on. Certain characters become more likable and other characters seem get less of a starting role. Like any first season comedy it's about finding their footing which I think they do.

So I am of the opinion that The Orville is the best Star Trek series around right now. Much better than Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard to say nothing of Lower Decks.

The first season was meh, but the second season is as good as Season 3-5 of TNG and DS9 Seasons 4-7.

I feel like Star Trek could have easily continued where Voyager left off, in the vein of TNG, and ran a series that would have been very popular.

Instead, fucking JJ-lite, Alex Kurtzman has dumbed everything down, taken the cheap way out of making everything gritty and edgier, and turned them into faint copies of lesser sci-fi franchises. As a consequence, Trek is once again dying despite the number of shows as fans fail to embrace the new offerings.

What do folks think?

Kurtzman Trek is trash. Lower Decks is a better Trek than Disco or Picard. Disco Season 3 is just fucking Andromeda with Burnham doing whatever she wants and crying there are consequences.

I was really, really surprised with how good The Orville was. I assumed it was going to be another awful comedy from MacFarlane. Instead, it's the best recent Star Trek show.

Did it get picked back up? I seem to remember it not being renewed.

I was surprised too. The first season was not great and it was what one would expect from McFarlane.

But Season Two was amazing. It was like watching TNG back in the day.

Hulu is doing the third season.

Haven’t started 4 yet but, uh sounds like it’s about to rush the story. I may need to read after all

Doubt they will. It will be quite easy just to set and ending at the right place. Might need a little rewrite but it should work. Although the books are worth it to get the whole story

I couldn't make it through the first episode, I take it it got better than that?

Best "Star Trek" episode I've seen in a while was the USS Callister episode of black mirror. I haven't watched Picard yet.

Doesnt season 4 end around book 4/5? Two seasons gonna be enough to cover everything that’s left? Guess it’s possible.

Season four is largely book four, but it also sets up a lot of what happens in book five. I assume season five will cover the fifth and sixth books, or at least most of them. The guys who write the books work on the show, I believe, so I'd imagine they have a plan to trim some fat or streamline a few things.

I read elsewhere that one of the creators was commenting about this on twitter and he wasn't acting as if this was a cancellation. I'm guessing they realized that getting eight seasons of any show was unlikely unless it's a cultural phenomenon like Game of Thrones (and The Expanse is nowhere near that popular), so it made sense to end the show on their terms rather than risk the show getting axed with one season left to finish the story.

That being said, you should 100% read the books. They are great. The first one is a little slow but they really start picking up with books three and four. The fifth book was my favorite in the series, at least pending the release of the final book when it drops next year.
