New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are they underrated? Aren't they widely revered as rock legends?

It's not as bad as it used to be, and was mainly a US issue, but they aren't remotely given the respect they deserve.

My daughters friends never even heard of The Bee Gees. They heard of Elvis, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, but not The Bee Gees, even though they were the top act of the 70s and as singer/songwriter/producers, they had the most successful year of any artist ever in 1978. The #1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 14, 19 most popular songs of the year were theirs. 3 as The Bee Gees, the others written and produced for other artists, most with their vocals all over the songs. They followed that up with 3 more #1 songs then suddenly couldn't get their music played at all.

Their 80s/90s music was some of the best of their career, but they couldn't even get it played because of ridiculous backlash over how popular they were in the 70s (which included the night their records were burned at a baseball game).

This song from 1987 was named the best song of the year in England (and was their fasted song to hit #1 there), but couldn't get played on the US

I once asked a radio DJs why they wouldn't play it, he told me would never play The Bee Gees again. This at a time when songs they wrote for other artists were massive hits on the same station.

This song from 1983 was probably the best song they ever recorded, nobody knows the song because it couldn't get played

Same year this couldn't get played

I started to get burnt out on Vikings last week and switched over to a rewatch of The Last Kingdom instead. This show is hilariously better than Vikings.

There are like ten viking characters on The Last Kingdom that are better than anyone on Vikings. Ubba is so fucking great, and Skorpa is perfectly unsettling in the best way. I love the red teeth. I think Last Kingdom handles mysticism in a much better, more realistic way too.

It'd be a hell of a debate between Alfred and Ecbert, though. They're both awesome in different ways.

I just started The Wire yesterday. A few episodes in and it was pretty hilarious seeing them write reports on typewriters and giving one cop grief about what he would do if he had a computer.

Good show though, just amused at how quickly the times change.

At the time, this was my favorite show of all time. Then Treme came out. David Simon has a way of besting his own greatness.

Two episodes in and The Expanse continues to be great. Amos' story this season is as great as it was in the books.

Debating waiting on the whole season to be released, or starting it up tonight.

Yeah, good luck with that. I know they dropped 3 episodes to start. Just finished the first.

@Jack Brickman I just listened to The Churn novella last week, so excited to see his arc this season.

I’ve been watching The Shield so it can probably keep my mind off it. But I know I’ll give in.

What were your thoughts on "The Deuce"...I did not think I'd love it...but I did. Damn the 1970's were dirty and sticky...

I'm churning my way through Season 4 right now...the choice of when to start Season 5 will soon be upon me!?!

So actor Josh Gad started doing a 'Reunited Apart' Youtube channel, where he gets cast and crew from movies that impacted him as a kid together on a zoom call, and they talk about all kinds of stuff like behind the scenes, they reenact iconic scenes, etc. It's pretty cool, and he has picked some fantastic movies from my childhood. Think all besides Lord of the Rings are from the 80's. Hell, he got Bill Murray to attend the Ghostbusters one. I've actually enjoyed it a lot, and try to turn off your ad-blocker when watching as all proceeds are going to fundraisers. The John Hughes Tribute is fucking brilliant.
