Black Sails is outstanding.Rewatching Black Sails(Stars/Hulu) and am just as surprised as I was the first time I watched it that it is actually really good, especially the 2nd and 3rd seasons. Some really memorable characters. A cast that is talented but mostly not known for any other big roles so it makes it easier to see them just as their characters and not connect them to other shows/movies.
Any one else ever give this show a try?
Almost through 2 seasons of Billions. Can't believe I waited this long to start watching this. Have also been watching Alaska: The Last Frontier. Really enjoying this one also.
Yeah i've been trying it find it online. The show Lee pitched famously became 'kung fu' with David Caradine. They just couldnt have an asian hero. So we got robbed of what would have been bruces best work. His talent and a US budgetI started watching Warrior, the Cinemax show inspired by a Bruce Lee story that he pitched decades ago but was turned down because studios didn't think they could sell a show with a predominately Asian cast. This is basically Chinese Banshee. A dumb but fun pulp martial arts show set in late 1800s San Francisco.
I'm enjoying it a lot. I just finished the fifth episode of the first season and it was easily the best of the series so far and also a wonderful nod to spaghetti Westerns, which were in turn inspired by Kurosawa, particularly with Seven Samurai.
Worth a watch if you like martial arts films.

It is a bit "goofier" than Peaky Blinders, but I agree is not the pornographic past time that was Banshee, either....and I have enjoyed all of the above. Not only that, but they ripped him off and didn't even credit him for it.
Nice to see his vision finally get made. I'm sure it's not exactly what he had in mind, being so far in the future, but it's an entertaining show and I believe his daughter is a producer.
The more I watch, the less I think it's Banshee with martial arts and more that I think it's Peaky Blinders with martial arts. It's definitely got that Peaky Blinders vibe with the constant use of anachronistic music, coupled with it being a period piece from a similar time period with a similar gang war vibe.
For what it's worth, I just downloaded it on Pirate Bay.

I love the "Western" motif, and there were indeed a few episodes (another in season 2 of Warrior) that hit the Spaghetti Western form quite nicely. I am a sucker for a historical drama, and I like this one too.
Anyone have any good lesser known sitcom suggestions that are good for a mind cleanse before falling asleep?
