New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Obviously it’s an amazing show (until maybe the end), and not many would compare, but does anyone have any recommendations on shows that are similar to GoT in regards to setting? I’m a big fan of that medieval type setting, doesn’t even necessarily have to have a fantasy aspect to it. I just really enjoyed watching a show from that time period, and would like to find more.

Someone told me The Witcher is pretty good, so I’ll give that a go. But I’d love to hear some other recommendations if you’ve got them.
The Last Kingdom
Vikings

So I decdied to binge Six Feet Under, still on the first season, but holy crap is this show my humor. Not as good as Barry, but its pretty good

One of my favorite HBO shows with arguably the best series finale I've watched. It definitely gets darker as the show gets on but considering the premise, that should come as no surprise.

I just started season 4, i am binging pretty hard, I love the show. I just want to save Claire, she is the most normal one, but I fear a tail spin. Obviously Nate is fucked up, and David has his issues...and the mother, holy shit, lol.

I really liked The Witcher, as well.

The Last Kingdom
Vikings

The Last Kingdom is probably the closest from a quality standpoint even if it’s historical fiction rather than fantasy. I also find it to be a much better version of the same basic story that Vikings tells.

I don’t think there’s a fantasy series that really compares to Game of Thrones right now, which makes sense as Thrones was essentially the show that made fantasy cool and mainstream.

Agreed. I have watched TLK so many times I can darn near say the lines along with them. Not overly happy this next season is going to be it for them. And if you haven't read the books you are missing out.

Was a huge huge fan of Vikings until it went off the rails after Ragnar died and the Great Heathen army. The whole Civil War between the brothers was beyond stupid. And I'm probably in the minority but I hated Ivar.

The Last Kingdom if you haven't seen it is really good.

Agreed--just finished it last night.

Although, Amazon missed a huge opportunity. They should've had the option to watch May and Hammond watching Clarkson's Farm. I would've paid to hear James and Richard laughing at Jeremy.

Yes, and integrate them into the show by repurposing combines as snow removal devices in the winter, with full on flamethrowers on top (I know you'll get that joke).

No fantasy element at all, and a bit further ahead in history than the Last Kingdom, but I enjoyed the Tudors (originally Showtime...elsewhere, too I am sure).

I really like Historical Dramas in general....if you would entertain some pirates, Black Sails is was quite good.

Black Sails is awesome

Been watching Succession after I finished Mystic Quest. Just got 2-3 episodes into season 2 and I realized...that's McCauley Caulkin's brother

The Harley Quinn animated series (2 seasons on HBO Max) is really, really good....the best DC rendering for me (even if that is a low bar). Superhero parody, while exploring the human, personal side of the characters -- what a concept!
