I thought regardless of final outcome they might go back and do more of a “what happened in the 10 years Dexter was in Oregon” spin-off but they were adamant Dexter wasn’t killing in that time so I think that idea is basically over.

Harrison annoys the shit out of me so anything with him as lead should not happen.

My dude Dex got shot in the leg in one episode and a day? days at most? later was climbing ladders and sprinting through the woods.

There were definitely some WTF moments, but overall, yes way better than the worst ending of all time like last time.

The face off tease of Dex/Batista was key. It was rushed. Dex killed an innocent Logan which felt completely rushed. Most of Dexter nation is pissed at the outcome.

And if they make a spin off with Harrison I hope it flops. But I'm 100% Dexter will be the new Harry and in every episode.

The episode before the finale was so damn good too.

I'm also pretty sure that Dexter could have just done nothing and gotten away with everything. They were never going to get that Bay Harbor Butcher accusation to stick based on the testimony of one guy saying Dexter jabbed him in the neck with a syringe. The biggest piece of evidence they had was the piece of titanium they found in the remains of Dexter's cabin, but it was pretty obvious that it was planted by Kurt once they figured out it was Kurt who torched the cabin, especially when taken in conjunction with the note that was left at the chief's house.

So essentially Dexter killed an innocent man for nothing instead of just letting it all play out and eventually walking.

It doesn't matter how sure they were that he was the Butcher. They had no real proof outside of very circumstantial evidence. And for that matter, the police force would have absolutely zero incentive to reopen that case when it was considered closed and solved. No police department is going to take back all those bodies and risk losing a trial that is very lacking in any kind of tangible proof outside of retconned ketamine use.

Rushed... not really thought out. Your post explains it, another post above about the small time cop finding out in days as oppose to FBI and Miami Metro not.

So, all in all, Dexter: New Blood = quick money grab, maybe Michael Hall wanted a one more and done.

I thought that, overall, New Blood did what it set out to do. It ended the Dexter story in a way that wasn't a complete embarrassment.

That doesn't mean it was amazing. It just wasn't terrible. It definitely felt super rushed at the end, though.

Completely nonsense speculation, but Dex did have a wicked dream scenario about Harrison vs the 3 kids. They could come back with another Dex dream when he busted out of jail.

Main actors get bored, I get it. Want to move on with their lives and count their money as they age. Just hate when these shows feel rushed after all the time invested.

Nonetheless, Dexter was one of the better characters ever written, the show was always good, great characters all around, even had a chuckle at the Easter eggs when Batista clicked his email in the recent episode.

Gonna miss it

I am enjoying Yellowjackets fine but I guess it hasn't quite hit for me like it is for some of the rest of you. Like a 7.5/10 for me

Mayor of Kingstown I believe wrapped up this week. Paramount+ exclusive and co-written by Taylor Sheridan, who does Yellowstone. Stars Jeremy Renner who is basically, for lack of a better term, the "peacekeeper" in chaotic town full of crime and corruption. Like Yellowstone, it's almost laughably over the top at times but it was enjoyable. Episode 9 was probably the most intense episode of TV I can remember watching. Definitely an intense show.

Euphoria started back on up Sunday. Enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. I believe there are two hour long specials that released between Season 1 and 2 that I should probably get around to watching

Been watching 1883 as well. Also a Paramount+ exclusive and also from Taylor Sheridan and is supposed to be a ~150 year prequel or whatever to Yellowstone with the Dutton ancestors. Stars Sam Elliot, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw. It's good, but I struggle with it some since it can be bleak at times. At this point they are basically traveling by horse and cart from Fort Worth out to unsettled Oregon.

The two euphoria specials aren't like normal episodes of euphoria. They are almost the exact opposite of a typical euphoria episode. They give you insight into what is going on in Rue and Jule's heads. I would say to watch both before the next episode if you can.

The theme song for Yellowjackets is great too:

All about the 90s nostalgia.

Both those musicians are 90's legends.

Wedren from Shudder to Think who started out in the DC hardcore scene but went way beyond that you'd expect for that. Signed with a big label. Toured with Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Fugazi. Then did a bunch of film and Tv scoring plus solo albums.

Waronker from a famous LA family of music business and music artist fame. She had a band called That Dog that was great and has done sessions(cello and background vocals) with tons of people. Her brother drummed for Beck and a ton of other huge alt rock bands of the 90's and 2000's. I think their dad was a big Producer and A&R guy in the 80's and 90s. She's also married to a dude that has played in The Mevlins and Redd Kross

The first three episodes of HBO's Peacemaker dropped this week. I'm only about ten minutes into the first episode but it has been hilarious thus far.

New LOTR show on Amazon Prime dropped a trailer for its official title reveal -- "The Rings of Power"

As a huge LOTR nerd/fan, it's hard to keep my expectations in check. Looks like they will be focusing on the Second Age when Sauron is disguised as Annatar and working with the Elves to create the rings. They have a huge swath of history to work off of. Would love to see some flashbacks to the first age. Some truly epic battles/scenes from that. War of the Gods level shit. Seeing Ungoliant or the Balrogs, Dragons, whatever would be awesome. I bet an entire season is focused on Sauron corrupting the Numenorians.

Curious to see what kind of story they will tell. Will it be a more intimate tale focusing on a few select characters or a region? Or will it be more of an anthology type of series spanning the entire age and continent? We have very little information on the story itself at this point.

So excited.

I'm beyond hyped for this. Literally counting the days at this point :chuckle:
