New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watched season three of The Deuce this weekend. Not sure anyone creates compelling regular people quite like David Simon. Those last few episodes hit pretty hard.

Overall, it's not The Wire (nothing is), but it was a damn good show with a lot of memorable characters and, like most Simon shows, really has a sense of place like few other filmmakers can create. You watch it and it is New York, like The Wire was Baltimore and Treme was New Orleans.

The Deuce was one of my favorite shows ever, been a year since I watched and I just finished The Wire for the first time 2 months ago, but I like The Duece better, just a personal opinion...I know most say The Wire is greatest show ever.

Finally finished Shameless. Been watching it in spurts. It's all on Netflix, so I was able to get the final seasons. I thought it might get a bit repetitive, but it stayed the course with quality content for the duration.

Started Euphoria tonight. This show is basically 13 Reasons Why but less preachy and with way more dicks.

There's one more season coming.

Slight changes with lore, but so far it's very well done. I'm only through episode 3 because I've actually been slightly busy at work. About to finish the last 3 shortly.

Is it me or was the shot of Astrotrain at the end of Episode 6 really odd?

They made him look huge, and ominous.

Astrotrain! The idiot who ousted Megatron and tried to make an army out of other trains. Not the brightest 'Con.

However, is known to back Starscream in the leadership struggles, that is when he isn't smacking Starscream around.

Being fair, Astrotrain was large enough to fit multiple Decepticons in during G1. Megatron is tossed out of him in space during the movie.

Yes, but he has always been portrayed as being about the same height as Starscream.

... I've often wondered the same thing. Transformations allow for size changes, I have no idea.

I've always thought Astrotrain was underrated.

According to his tech specs his strength rates at 9/10, and speed 10/10.

Which means he is almost as strong as Megatron and maybe the fastest Decepticon.

Of the Triple-Changers he is the strongest. Remember the episode he was worshipped as a god?

I didn't have a lot of Transformers as a kid, they were pretty expensive. I did have Astrotrain, so he has a special place in my childhood heart.

I did not have as many as I would have liked, my parents did not have a lot of money and they never bothered to listen to me when I said I was done with He-Man and only wanted transformers.

But, they did finally come through for Christmas 1986 when they got me Blitzwing and Astrotrain.

I was super thrilled. The triple-changers were the coolest thing and actually really well-built. Astrotrain had a cast steel train body.

And they were featured a lot in the second season of the show. They are still two of my favorites.

I got Blurr for my birthday the next year, but I feel like that the characters introduced in the Movie, aside from Galvatron and Ultra Magnus were kind of lame.

I had:

Cliffjumper
Thrust
Sludge
Kickback
Astrotrain

I also had a slew of GoBots people kept buying me. THESE AREN'T THE SAME THING, DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND?!?!

I dreamed of Jetfire, but there was no way that was ever going to happen.

When my eldest got into Transformers, I might have compensated for my lacking collection a little bit. My wife might even say we went a little overboard. I'm not sure that's possible, but women typically have no appreciation for the sciences (fictions). :p

He was loaded w/ toys, we bought used lots on Ebay and such so he ended up w/ a box full of Transformers all in great working order for one Christmas. Many were still boxed (nothing crazy value, I checked).

Someone got him a large Optimus Prime from the new(er) movie series when it came out. You know, the whole Bumblebee as the new Camaro series. Anyways, the complexity on it was crazy. Like a 30 minute transform. Imagine sitting there as a kid making that stupid sound for 30 minutes while you transform your giant Optimus Prime. :D

ETA: My youngest and I are going to sit down here in a few minutes and start the Transformers series on Netflix. Can't wait!

It was generally well received and I remember quite a few discussions about it on RCF. I'm personally excited for it.

I re-watched season 1 of The Umbrella Academy prior to watching season 2 to get me back up to speed. One was better than I remembered. I enjoyed Season 2 better than Season 1, though. The ending leads to an interesting road for season 3.

Nice, that is awesome that your kid loves Transformers.

I still look with envy at Fortress Maximus or a working Shockwave. I had Scorpinok, got him in comic book trade.

I may have to breakdown and get them.

I am also glad that the Bay Transformers films are dead.

The new reboot, as evidenced by Bumblebee, is what we've been waiting for.
