NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Bears LB Roquan Smith has requested a trade.

Smith, 25 is slated to play the 2022 season under his fifth-year option, which would net him $9.7 million. In a statement, he called out the new Chicago front office for failing to negotiate in good faith and not valuing him as a player. The team's latest offer, Smith said, would not just be bad for him, but for every linebacker in the NFL. The offer is reportedly backloaded and filled with de-escalators that could cost Smith serious money. Smith is a force in the middle of the field, totaling 163 tackles, three sacks, and 12 tackles for a loss in 2021. It appears unlikely he'll be in a Bears uniform this season. The team's new front office, headed by general manager Ryan Poles, is off to the rockiest start possible.

Trade Kareem for Roquan?

I don't think we're interested in allocating more of our limited financial resources to a linebacker.

Youre probably correct...one of the best LBs in the entire NFL *may* be the exception, though? Roquan and JOK as the LBs with Myles, JD, Taven and Elliot up front, Ward, Newsome, Greedy/MEJr/AJ as CBs and JJIII and Delpit as safeties feels very versatile and effective.

Honestly, I don't think so.

Smith is going to want, at the least, Fred Warner money. Odds are he wants to set the linebacker market.

He plays the same position as JOK, and it's not a position we value that highly.

It's something fun to do in Madden though

Malik Willis arm talent was on FULL display tonight.

He couldn’t beat out Bo Nix (who I think will do well at Oregon).

Pretty amazing for all the hype the kid got pre draft, he’s got the Vince Young type throwing motion. Malik could be a good shot putter imo.
